When Gasol breaks down or can't handle being the number one guy and we get the 14th pick while the Lakers are winning championships and the Hornets are in the playoffs, I want to bump this thread.
I'm waiting for details. I don't just like Pau coming in because we need more if we are going to be facilitating a deal for CP3 to commit long term to the Lakers. I'm guessing it's going to end up being a good deal for all.
My greatest concern is his mental weakness. Dude has looked like utter crap in all the playoff series. And like you said, he's just not a franchise guy. Not to mention he's getting old. At least Scola has enough fire in his belly to give a damn even though he's not athletic himself. Plus anything we do that could help the Lakers is something I absolutely don't want the Rockets to be involved with.
You are correct. I do not personally agree with trading for Paul with no guarantee for a commitment (which he can't do because of the new CBA)... All I am stating is that every reporter has confirmed that those are MOREY'S intentions. Not mine.
Gasol is a good player but still a 2nd banana type. How are the Rockets going to get a franchise player now that they are trading away assets for Pau?
Gasol was badly abused by Dirk in the playoffs and his numbers dropped big: STATS GP MPG PPG FGM-FGA FG% 2010-11 Regular Season 82 37.0 18.8 7.2-13.7 .529 2010-11 Postseason 10 35.8 13.1 4.7-11.2 .420 3PM-3PA 3P% FTM-FTA FT% RPG 2010-11 Regular Season 0.0-0.0 .333 4.3-5.2 .823 10.2 2010-11 Postseason 0.1-0.2 .500 3.6-4.5 .800 7.8 APG BLKPG STLPG PFPG TOPG 2010-11 Regular Season 3.3 1.6 0.6 2.5 1.7 2010-11 Postseason 3.8 1.7 0.4 3.3 1.7
CP3 Lee Morris Scola Dalembert isn't getting you far. It's basically a Hornets Clone. how doesn't Dirk abuse that isn't Chuck Hayes
We're not stopping the Lakers from competing. They are the Yankees, they'll get guys perpetually and will continue to be contenders based on their brand. You can't worry about how you're improving another team as a GM, you only worry about improving your squad.
Don't want Bynum. Not only is he a thug, but he's injury prone too? Deal-Breaker. I don't care how young he is.
This would work: Houston receives: 2012 Hornets 2nd Round Pick, Pau Gasol Lakers receive: Chris Paul, Terrence Williams Hornets receive: Luis Scola, Chase Budinger, Goran Dragic, Jordan Hill, 2 future first rounders from Lakers, Rights to Sergio Llull and Hasheem Thabeet and cash. Something like that would be nice.
