* PLEASE READ THIS IMPORTANT MESSAGE* People, put your pitchforks down! This is what we know: We all know that Houston's biggest target this offseason was Chris Paul. Everyone has reported that Morey has pushed hard for him regardless of his willingness to commit to a long term deal. I think it's SAFE to assume, that, like everyone else in the world Morey thinks Chris Paul is more valuable than Pau Gasol. So... everyone here stating that us trading Martin + Scola (+picks? maybe) for Gasol does not understand how 3 team deals work. IF the Lakers were not contributing anything besides Gasol to the trade, then why would Houston not trade for Chris Paul straight up? THERE ARE MORE PIECES TO THIS THREE TEAM TRADE THAN STATED Do not gather as an angry mob until you know the whole story!
Pau's fat ass contract + any other player (Okafor / Odom) means no chance of high pick or being players during summer next year. Why not just freaking play rookies this season, it's lost anyways.
Another thing to consider, despite Pau being his age, everyone else on our team would still be getting better. Our whole team minus Pau (and potentially Nene) would be average around 24. It's amazing what playoff experience can do to a player -- and their playoff reputation -- Ariza. That would make our "assets" that much more showcased in the playoffs. Which would enable us to make some even better upgrades. ... and yes, minus scola + martin plus Gasol does put us in the playoffs.
Just realized if Hayes leaves I'll have nothing to live for. Replace grit and toughness with flopping and pee-pee games -- ballerina basketball. Jesus... If Morey does give the Lakers Paul, and ultimately Howard -- what does that say about him? Is he GM-ing for his job instead of trying to win the title? What Clutch said makes sense, but by digging yourself a deeper hole (making LA better) you make it harder to win a title in the next 10 years. Isn't that the goal?!

Pau Gasol, Nene, and Patrick Patterson is one of the best front court rotations in the West. Kyle Lowry and Courtney Lee;solid point guard and solid shooting guard. This move would show that the Rockets have confidence in Marcus Morris becoming Melo Lite.
they better at least give us artest back or new orleans better give us okafor or at least ariza back.
ok - I can come to terms on Scola and Martin but if we give up more than a 2nd rounder in addition to that...ugh
is Marc a restricted FA? If not then I bet Morey could easily convince Marc to come here if we got Pau. Would be pretty cool to have that front court and I think it'd give us some media attention as well. Would motivate both of them too...I really like this scenario over the others. Besides Marc is a young player and has a lot more games in his career.
Chloe would veto this deal with an emphatic, "I'm not moving to Houston, Lamar...I don't even know how to ride a horse."
