If we are going to evaluate this trade in a vacuum yes it does appear to be a good trade talentwise for the Rockets. But you have to look at the big picture which also includes the other teams. Helping the Lakers acquire cp3 and possibly later Dwight is a horrible idea. I rarely post because most of these player moves just roll off my back but when I heard this rumor had to give my $.02 because it's such a bad idea.
A 31 year old non-superstar. While trading away our best two players, ensuring mediocrity. And giving up picks just in case the trade wasn't bad enough. Yeah, we're unbelievable.
Right. My gut hates him but I admit he is one of the reasons Kobe won a title and went to the Finals.
Our GM went to MIT. I trust him. If we have to include a pick, can it be the other half of the pick from T-will trade? I want to keep Lowry, Morris and Patterson. Would like to keep Martin. We should add okafor too and give them our 09ners. Lowry, Martin, Morris, Gasol, Okafor <--- top 5 in west
You have to have a skilled big man these days to compete. God knows I love Scola but he has never been the above the rim type guy that we sorely need.
Pau played like garbage in the playoffs, and was absolutely destroyed by Dirk. He averaged 18.8/10.2 last year in 37 minutes per game, very similar to Scola's 18.2/8.3 in 33 minutes per game. Not much of an upgrade. GP MPG PPG FGM-FGA FG% 2010-11 Regular Season 82 37.0 18.8 7.2-13.7 .529 2010-11 Postseason 10 35.8 13.1 4.7-11.2 .420
Exactly. Also I'm pretty sure Nene signs here if we get Gasol. I like going to war with Lowry - All around PG, can lead team Lee- Solid defender that can slash and shoot Morris - Rookie who has a all around game and is a baller Nene - great defender that can score down low and rebound and shoot Pau - great defender that can score down low and rebound and shoot I think that is much better than last years team.
I don't want Patrick included in the deal, him and Pau would make a good frontcourt combo. It better be just Scola and Martin (maybe some picks).
Well it's not Scola alone for Gasol. It's Scola, Martin and picks for Gasol. Meanwhile LA gets Paul. And there is no guarantee that Nene will even sign with the Rockets.

helllllllll noooooo i hope this doesnt go down. We are getting raped while helping the lakers make a new dynasty. I know Morey is worshiped here but I'm getting a tired of his s***
giving up MARTIN in this deal would SUCKKKK. Freaking Pau is not worth it. He's getting old and we are not going to win it all with him, Lowry and Nene. Are you guys serious??
Actually I remember it the other way around. The whole trade deadline it was T-Mac for Hill + picks, and we were all rabbling. Then Kevin Martin's name came out. We were all going nuts. Then Landry's name came out. Most of us were still going nuts, but maybe 1/3rd of the people soured on the trade because we lost our Scomandry.
He is a top 15 player, and we don't know the details with the picks yet. You always ALWAYS trade two good players for a franchise-type all-star player.
Rockets fans OVER-value Scola and Martin because we're homers and have become attached to them and we vastly UNDER-value Gasol because we've hated him as an opponent his entire career.
