1st - Martin and Scola were getting us nowhere, with Gasol we have a chance to make the playoffs (but I don't want to give up picks) 2nd - Gasol's skillset will be productive even as he ages 3rd - One of the Laker's recent championships was because Gasol nutted up and willed them to victory. 2010-2011 Gasol was boss. 4th - I can't believe people were reluctant to trade Scola alone for Gasol!
!!!!!!!!!! SAME HERE MAN thats our scorer..if we get pau without losing martin im all for it...LEE should be Good for them....even tho i love lee to be part with us still to...
NOOOOO, I do not want the Kardashian is Houston ruining the cities integrity, NOOOOOOOOO, Khloe Kardashian, NOOOOO..lol
If this is a mere possibility, Morey needs to get Chuck on the phone now and tell him to hold off on signing with Sac. If they get Pau, Chuck is a necessity. That being said, as hard as this trade is to swollow at first sight, its actually the right move to make. You address major needs for roughly four or five seasons. -Solidify a franchise Center -Solidify a sure to be All-Star for a few years -Gain one of the top 3 bigs in the West The team would essentially be built around Lowry/Pau with up and comers all around. The Rockets would need/expect big things for Courtney Lee & Terrence Williams in the future. Those two would be counted on for a bulk of offensive production. The Lowry/Gasol combo is essentially what you are building your team around, and a mix that just went from a 8th or 9th seed team hoping to luckily make the playoffs to a team that should easily make the playoffs in the 7th or 8th seed.
KBergCBS Ken Berger Rockets have been reluctant to part with Scola, but sources say they'd do it for right deal. And Pau Gasol would fill hole left by Yao.
I'm not going to overreact until the dust settles. Remember the Landry trade? At first everyone was pissed we traded T-mac and Landry for Martin and then the dust settled and we ended up with picks and Hill. Let Morey do his thing and let the pieces fall into place.
I will say this: the upgrade from Lowry to Paul was not going to be as much as people though, probably even less I would elect to say than the upgrade we get going from Scola to Gasol. Defensively, I put Lowry over Paul no matter what the steals say, and as much a lightweight you think Gasol is as a defender, Scola is much, much worse. Height goes a long way towards big man defense. Of course, Paul was never the reason all of us wanted Paul. We wanted Paul because it gave us an "in" to getting D-Wight. But hell, if Lowry becomes an all-star next year, Pau maintains, and we do end up getting Nene, maybe Dwight would be willing to consider coming to us in a SnT for Nene.
Defense! Pau is not all-nba defense but he's so much better than Scola it's not funny. Scola is worthless on defense. I'm going to sound crazy but Gasol > Paul when it comes to winning a championship. Paul is a better player, but he's going to break down sooner than Pau and PGs don't win you championships. AND Paul would proabbly bolt after the season to team up with Howard, and there is a slim chance that would be here. I believe Morey can put a strong enough cast around Gasol to seriously contend.
Nene is the key...you get him and we've got one heck of a front court with two excellent young guards.
how would you guys feel if we ended up with okafor, gasol, and odom? The hornets need to keep on cheap contracts to sell the team to a potential buyer. If say this deal went down Hou Odom Gasol Okafor LAL Paul Ariza NOH Martin Scola Picks Plus all 09 busts to match salaries Budinger or patterson since they like either The trade would give houston plethora of bigs with potential lineup of Lowry Lee Odom/Morris/budinger (if left) Gasol/Patterson(if left)/odom Okafor NOH would have a buttload of players back because they lose out on all long term salary commitments. All the players they obtain will have contracts ending in a couple years. and the big salaries they get scola and martin are guys on reasonable contracts. We get bunch of size.
I love Luis Scola man and he is the one out of both Martin and him that hate to see leave but For a dominant big man, it's worth it. I think Rockets keeping Lee to try and Lure D.Howard
