Doubt Rockets look at it as Pau for Scola & Martin. Probably view it more along the lines of Pau, Free Agent Center X, and possibly another free agent, for Scola & Martin.

Ok, let's say Nene and Gasol come here and we give up Martin, Scola and future picks that makes our starting line-up:

Lowry, Lee, Budinger, Gasol & Nene. <--- don't like.

Gasol does not compare to Rasheed Wallace defensively, who would be our Ben Wallace? Thabeet? Tayshaun was a lockdown at the 3, Budinger, Morris? Rip was a solid offensive player, Lee sputters. Billups was all around solid, which is about the only comparison to Lowry.

If Morey gives up all that for Gasol I am also done with him, and he should be fired.

Gasol is almost 32. He would be a nice player for 2-3 more years but is he worth helping the Lakers acquire cp3 and later Dwight? Their plan seems to be to use Pau to acquire cp3 and later use Bynum/Odom to acquire Howard.

I hope this rumor was only leaked by N.O. in order to get more from Boston or another team for Paul.

    Big picture big picture
CP3 is injury prone, Kobe sliding downhill
Gasol is soft but relatively healthy
We can always make future trades for younger allstar type of players
    I can hope

    Why not?

I'd replace Bud with Morris...4 of those 5 players are GOOD defensive players. I'm not sure that is a downgrade, I think we'd be a 4-7 seed in the west.

NO wants what houston has, for CP3.....doesnt mean houston gives it to them. Either NO wants too much or we're getting something else in the 3 way deal, besides Gasol.

I'm not saying we're there yet, but that would be the indication of the direction that Morey is taking.

We might as well all face it and realize we're not going to save money and tank for a high draft pick and a shot at Howard next summer. Howard is going to pick his next team (more or less) and Morey is too good at identifying talent for us to suck enough to get a really high pick. The best bet is combining assets and trading up in the draft.

Not buying it, why would we bring in Gasol if we were going to trade our top scorer (Martin?) plus I hate the thought of CP3 on the Lakers, especially when they could still send Bynum to Orlando.

    What a horrible idea.
