Tyson plus the two first round picks becomes the trade fodder for Dwight.

The thing is, I don't know if NO would want Amare, given his injury history (uninsurable contract, I think). If they lose CP, perhaps they should just build from the draft rather than take on a potentially bad contract on a player who will probably not even assure them a playoff spot.

Orlando will rebuild with a 30 year old Center and low end draft picks?

Dear Morey, please do not try to three way a trade for Amare. Do. Not. Want.

After this lockout, I believe the players mentality is "Money First." Shane Battier is the exception because he is the vet at the end of his career who wants a chance to win a ring. The added exposure from playing for Miami would be more financially beneficial for Shane.

It will do wonders for him in China as well. Don't believe me? Consider his 53,000 followers on twitter in comparison to a former All-Star Jameer Nelson who only has 34,000 followers.

Not sure this makes their team better at all if they have to cut/trade Chauncey. I mean this is Tyson Chandler we are talking about, the guy that only a year ago was traded for Erik Dampier's rotting corpse. He is a nice player, and no doubt he will help, but I'm not sure he will help as much as losing Billups would hurt. Also this adds to the injury risk which is already amplified in a short season. Look for Chandler to come in out of shape, no way he was working his ass off(risking injury) over the summer coming into his free agency.

But I thought Morey's lack of loyalty was the reason he couldn't get free agents!

But you do need an average PG, and the market is embarassingly thin this year; Barea, Stuckey, AB, Chalmers, Bibby?

Right now, it would be Toney Douglas and an out of position Iman Shumpert. Let's not forget that the Rockets had a potential championship completely sabotaged by this guy:

Really think it's a mistake for the Knicks to do this; right now Chris Paul wants to be in New York more than a 5th year senior wants to be in a 19 year old coed who just broke up with her long distance boyfriend and has some slight daddy issues. They don't need Chandler for their recruiting pitch, and there is no f'ing universe where you'd rather have Chandler/Anthony/Paul or Chandler/Stoudemire/Anthony than Stoudemire/Anthony/Paul.

On the other hand, it's awesome news for the Rockets' owed draft pick; you're telling me that "7-man rotation" Mike D'Antoni, who's coaching for his job, now is going to rely on Amare's uninsurable knees and Chandler's uninsurable back for 40 minutes a night in a brutal short season? And the Knicks will have absolutely no assets to improve their team?

Is there anyway we can get in on the NYK and DAL sign and trade Chandler?

Maybe see if we can get Amare out if it?

    Amare/Gasol combo?

We get him, and the guy's knees will be shattered by March at latest.

That would benefit GSW wouldn't it? They lose out on Tyson, but gain leverage for CP3 to sign an extension.

A three team deal perhaps? Maybe we send out Scola and get Amare in return?

This would great a dream Amare/Gasol combo for Houston.

I know professional sports is a business, but damn. Amar'e is responsible for making the Knicks watchable again. When they struck out on Lebron and Bosh, Amare fell into their lap and made them a free agent target. Would suck if he got traded to New Orleans.

If the idea is to trade Amare now or Chandler next summer, will the Knicks have any takers? What sane team will take Amare's $20 million/yr contract, especially with his injury history? Same for Tyson Chandler at $14MM/yr. I doubt the Hornets or Magic would.

I hope it leaks out the Knicks are trying to deal Amare because it would tick him off to no end. No way the Hornets want him.

As intimidating as a Chandler-Amar'e frontcourt is, we have to take into consideration that Amar'e and Melo aren't good at defense, and Fields and Shumpert can't guard everybody meaning Chandler's going to be quite busy trying to protect the rim.

Also, if they amnesty Billups and don't pick up Nash, then they have no point guard to try to split the ball between two players who need the ball to thrive.
