http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/217137/Chandler_Receives_Official_Offer_From_Warriors Strong team next year depending on what they do with CP3.
Holy moley, but that is overpaying him. He's not a spring chicken and he's not a transformative presence all on his own. I'm not even sure how much better he is than Udoh!
I was about to post this. Looks like teams will overspend this free agency because of the amount of cash out there needed to be tied up (salary floor raised, possible amnesty, owners feeling good about CBA, poor management) Looks like a no go on Chandler from us. I expect the same size contract for Nene.
I think pairing him with David Lee will make it very hard for them to lose on the boards... Wright at the three.... Monta at the SG.... Curry for CP3 doesn't sound bad.
CP3 won't re-sign with Golden State so that issue is dead. If Chandler is healthy for 4 years, this might make sense. Golden State must do something to nuke Nellie's small-ball nonsense out of their DNA.
eff that! that's a horrible contract, not to mention chandler is pretty injury prone to being with. ughhh.
He might considering the fact that he has stated he would love to play with Chandler again (plus they are good buddies). They probably have a better chance (if they sign Tyson) than anyone else other than LA or NY
the Warriors will likely have to amnesty center Andris Biedrins, still owed $27 million over three years.
I think the Warriors plan is - Get Tyson Chandler Trade for CP3 losing Steph Curry Trade Monta Ellis for Iggy/Rudy Gay
I don't know why people are so quick to dismiss this. If there's ANY team in the NBA that is absolutely desperate for Chandler's skillset, it's the Warriors. Assuming their players can adjust to a slower tempo, their defense will skyrocket. Lee, Ellis, and Curry and all provide the offense. With the right coach and right mix of role players, that's a legit playoff team. 5-8 seed perhaps. But still legit. And keep in mind Golden State fans are both supportive and desperately in need of any winning. They're not like Rockets fans who think 1st round exits are for losers. They will support a 6th seed who can only put up a fight in the first round. Chandler will be money well spent assuming they know how to create a system that meshes their players. He'll be the FA signing of the offseason if they can get CP3 to go there also.
LOL... We haven't even made the playoffs the last two seasons. We are just as relevant as the Warriors the past decade.
meh, okay if they get CP3 (longshot, I would say.) But it's approaching max money for a guy who has career averages of 8 pts, 9 rebounds and has played fewer than 52 games in two of the last three seasons. I think that alone justifies the WTF reaction, especially after months of the owners griping about how hard it is to break even.
The problem is you're giving this much money to a guy who has produced like that only for 3 years in his 10 year-career. And he is very much injury-proned. He played his hearts out knowing he wanted/needed a contract. Would the same passion roll over?
