I guess LeDouche realized he can't build a brand people want to spend money on if he remains as the villain.

People, this is about the money Lebron is losing from the choices he made from leaving Cleveland. He knows this. Don't fall for it.

Why some of you hate the guy so much is beyond me. He is a great NBA player who decided to go play for the Miami Heat. Big Deal. Sure he could have done a few things different but at the end of the day he seems like a genuinely good guy who tends to get a bad rep.

Lebron left to win a championship, that was his decision. Now cp3 and Dwight, deron all want to the same thing. Are they douches too or do we wait till Barkley confirms it?

Only if they have a special called "The Decision" or are labeled as the "next Jordan" that'll save a franchise, then maybe.

Yeah 1 mistake was the decision. The media always compares Kobe, LeBron or any great SG/SF to Jordan. LeBron never claimed he was the next Jordan.

Would love to see the comments by the same posters in this thread if Lebon had come to Houston instead of Miami. LOL

Is there a thread somewhere that talks about Hakeem working with Lebron this summer?

    http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ba...-helping-to-tune-LeBron-James-?urn=nba-wp7284

Count LeBron James(notes) as the latest notch in Hakeem Olajuwon's attempt to tutor each member off the All-NBA team.

Olajuwon's tutoring gig with Dwight Howard(notes) didn't result in any startling difference in Howard's offensive game last season. Dwight did establish a career high in points per game, and he did look more comfortable trying more complicated low-post maneuvers, but you could also chalk that up to a 25-year-old inching closer to his prime. Though Hakeem thinks it may have had to do with Orlando's offense. The Houston Rockets Hall of Famer also has worked with Kobe Bryant(notes), though we haven't seen many Dream Shakes emanating from the future Hall of Famer from Los Angeles. Chalk that up to Kobe knowing every move, ever.

This isn't to say that Olajuwon isn't making a difference. And LeBron, smartly, wants a piece.

    From the Associated Press:
He's also trying to deliver on his vow to be even better whenever the Heat resume play, saying he's been in Houston at times this offseason to learn post play from one of the game's all-time greats, former Rockets star Hakeem Olajuwon.

"I look at what he was able to do throughout his career," James said. "Unbelievable talent. Multiple champion. Just to see how he was able to dominate in the low post, for me as an individual, I just try to look at some of the things I feel I need to get better at and hit home at it. Our team becomes better if I continue to get better and that's what it's about."

Next step, Hakeem? There are two dozen NBA teams out there without All-NBA talent in their lineup that wouldn't mind if you could teach their starting center how to dribble and chew gum at the same time.

Kobe was vilified this same way during his rape case, but his play on the court and his character and integrity off the court silenced his critics and won many of them over.

I see this Lebron "decision" as equivalent to Kobe's rape. If Lebron continues to carry himself correctly AND win, then the critics will be silenced and he'll win his fans back.

You know, actually I've never been convinced that Kobe wasn't anything BUT that, namely, a villain in his own right. I actually pin all the stuff that people have been accusing Lebron of in this thread as having an origin in Kobe first and foremost. Or maybe you could trace it back to MJ.

But all in all, Kobe still comes across to me (he doesn't "piss me off", no one in the NBA pisses me off except David Stern) as an insecure individual, someone who worked very hard to craft an image of himself that is not true. The postgame press conferences, the on-the-court behavior, the tongue-wagging...all of that is just Kobe trying to Be Like Mike.

I don't think Lebron has the ability to be as fake as Kobe is. He's not cunning like that. He's a simpleminded guy who tends to say what he feels and in doing so ends up sticking his foot in his mouth more often than you would like. So what. If he wants to change his perception, he could just work harder and win more and then everyone would have to shut up and that would be that. There's not really any of this Tom Cruise inferiority complex business in Lebron that we've seen coming from Kobe nonstop the past 13 years. Come to think of it, is Kobe a scientologist?

Seeing the light of day? Nevertheless, don't worry Lebron, we will wake up tomorrow with the same miserable life that we always have.

Ok, I'll tell you this. I've done some behind the work stuff at NBA events, places without any cameras. Kobe has a repuation of being a di*k, and I expectedh im to be one when there were no cameras and he had no incentive of gaining anything. Lebron treated people like they were invisible and ran through people, the second he sees a camera or a blogger or someone who can report it, he became the coolest dude ever. Kobe also ignored some poeple, but more than a few times I saw him make casual conversation with just people in the building, even respond personal rather than generically asking people questions, conversing. SEeing this in a setting where I knew both had nothing to gain, I respected kobe and learned repuations are not all what they are cooked out to be. Kobe is d*** on the court and he plays it up, he wants to eat you alive and kill you there, he is not trying to bel ikeable on the basketball court. He is obsessive and all his coaches, teammates, opponents say he is totally immersed and compulsive about trying to win, that is the guy i want on my team. Lebron, well hes got his shoe deal, celebrity on his mind, so on

He's not better than he performed last year. While these things may be true, they had no effect on his game, and they will not have any effect on his future game. It's just better for ESPN's business if Lebron is liked.

I got tired of hating on him, my hate ended when Dirk and crew f'ed them in the ass last year. I had enough lolz. He is a ego maniac douchebag, and always will be, and always has been even when he was in Cleveland, but I can't care less about him this season.

Plus he's not even fun to watch either, his style of playing consists of an ugly jumpshot and bullrushing full force to the rim. He never had the elegance that most super star wings have.

While Lebron is moping around and trying to make friends again, Kobe is working his ass off to just win as many games as possible.
