Wonder how the rest of our guys will feel and be affected by this.

Lowry said he would be "extremely upset" if Chuck isn't back and Patterson and Martin both said the same.

Clips and Warriors offers without Gordon or Curry should make the Rockets offer of Lowry and other pieces more competitive, one would think.

An offer of Lowry, Lee, Patterson, Morris, and draft picks is not much different than what the Knicks gave for Melo, and they knew he would resign.

Boston's delivered New Orleans multiple 3-team trade scenarios for CP3, trying to find something acceptable to Hornets, sources tell Y!

    FALSE! Lowry>Gallinari, Patteson>Chandler, Lee>Felton, Morris>Mozgov

Plus, NYK got Chauncey Billups in that trade as well. We would be giving up too much if we were to do the trade you proposed.

Good luck with that. Rondo is a problem child to begin with, and I doubt his attitude would improve in NOLA.

I don't see how a package of Lowry/Martin with our picks doesn't trump any of the other rumored offers. Both Lowry and Martin would start for the Hornets and a lineup of Lowry, Martin, Ariza, West, and Okafor is a very balanced and efficient lineup. The financials work and I think Courtney Lee would fill in nicely as a starter.

    We roll with:
    Paul/Dragic/Flynn
    Lee/Twill
    Budinger/Morris/Twill
    Scola/Patterson/Hill/Morris
    FA (Dalembert?)/Thabeet

I think this team would be competitive and fun to watch with a shot at making the playoffs. Having Paul on the roster would give us a better shot at landing Dwight Howard then we have now. If Paul decides to ditch us and we don't get Howard, so be it. We're left with a ton of cap space and a roster that will most likely yield a top lottery pick in 2013.

I made mention of this before but got no takers.

What if instead of going after CP3, we instead are one of those "facilitator" teams that is part of a 3 team deal to get him to the Lakers?

Meanwhile, we find a way to land Pau Gasol in the trade. Sure solves 2 problems for us in one fell swoop. We land the Center we desperately need AND we get a name player who can help attract other name players.

Will there be a "Deron Williams" trade that happens this season after Paul and/or Dwight is traded?

You know the star that no one expected to get traded?

I know its news and all but I just think its pointless to put up threads saying that the Rockets are in the mix for Chris Paul and we all know what will happen. CP3 would probably not even acknowledge Houston and the Rockets will probably have the smallest percentage of landing Paul.

I know Morey loves to go after big name players whenever they become available. But for the last few seasons, we haven't got anyone. It seems like the Rockets are on the list with many other teams but we always seem to have the lowest chance of nabbing them. I mean we can make a pitch for NO but we just don't have enough intriguing pieces to offer as much as other team does.

Even if somehow the Rockets made a deal for CP3. And then what? He plays here for one season and leaves elsewhere to another team with superstars he can play with and compete for a ring than play in Houston with no star players and certainly not in position to compete in the league for years to come. CP3 isn't 21 or 24 years old. He played for 6 years in the NBA and I know that at this point of his career, he wants to play for a team with a chance to win and star players to surround him with.

If we get CP3, we will have lots of fun watching him play this year but once he's gone, this team is basically gutless.

Since we are probably not getting Paul, why don't we get in the trade as a third partner? If the Lakers trade Bynum for Paul, why don't we offer up Scola for Okafor? New Orleans will have a hole at PF, because you would think West will bolt if Paul is gone. Then NO could resign Landry, and reunite Scolandry.

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/writers/sam_amick/12/07/chris.paul/index.html

"But what it would take to get him there remains to be seen. Lakers center Andrew Bynum is the prized piece because of his age (24) and, when healthy, his two-way impact, but he's not a good fit with incumbent center Emeka Okafor. The Hornets' veteran is owed a combined $40.4 million over the next three years and might have to be sent out (possibly to a third team) in such a deal."

If the Rockets' plans are to jump in as a third team in a Lakers/Hornets deal... they better not give up an important piece (like Scola) to take on Okafor's contract.

That's not to say Okafor is a bad player, because he's not, but I'd rather just pick up Dalembert and put him beside Scola than give up Scola for Okafor.

Okafor's contract is flat out horrible. It would go against Morey's stance on maintaining flexibility.

Pau Gasol is a completely different story. I'd give up Scola for him in a heartbeat.

LOL. First it's "omgz we're gonna get Paul!" to "hey let's be the 3rd team facilitator in the trade!"

Lose out on the big star as usual and settle for more role players.

This is where teams like the Celtics and Rockets need to make a push. Clippers' and Warriors offers are getting worse.
