They've said their goal is to win now and make a playoff run.

Dalembert has only missed two games in the last five seasons. Just saying.....

You have a point. Consider that it only takes 30 somewhat games to reach the playoffs this 66 game season. You just cannot miss that opportunity.

Honestly, I'd be shocked if it's less than 3 yrs/$27 mil. But I'm no capologist.

Yeah and possibly have no draft picks this year...

At best this roster is 1st round fodder. At worse, they barely miss the playoffs again.

Unless they can trade for a superstar like Paul or Howard, I see no need for Dalembert.

If Morey meets with Dalembert, I think he's willing to at least beat Miami and NY's offer, which should be the higher-end MLE.

He's an intriguing player. He was basically Jordan+ a few years ago when he became a FA. Philly then gave him a huge contract, and he became one of the poster boys for why the CBA sucked. He and so many other big men flops are the reason why I'm really hesitant on giving Jordan big money.

OTOH, his value should be as low as you can expect from a legit center now. He's still not THAT old, and should be able to play relatively for the next 3-4 years. The question is whether he's matured enough, smart enough, and dedicated enough to play. To me this is on McHale. He needs to see if Dalembert has what it takes. Upside is Tyson Chandler at half the money and half the injury concerns. Downside is Stro Swift yet again.

I'm not promoting tanking, but if this helps us grap a top 5 pick than I'm okay with it... If they expect this guy to make us contenders... Their wrong!

Was signing Hayes (who I'm a big fan of) going to get us any closer to the play-offs or being a contending team? Nope, didn't thank so.

With Battier taking the Heat's MLE, are the Rockets the sole player in the Dalembert sweepstakes? Is there a chance to get him on a value contract?

Since Yao and Deke left the team, its been team midget ever since and a layup drill to the rack. This team needs a rim protector in the worst way.

I agree. I personally think Patterson makes Chuckipoo expendable. With McHale I see the rockets going in a new direction with adding much needed size to their tiny frontline. Jordan Hill can also backup Dalembert while they bring along Thabeet throughout the season.

Yeah, I just tweeted the same sentiment. Let's not outbid ourselves, hopefully.

Um ...Jordan Hill can't backup anybody. Have you seen him play? If Hill or Thabeet play any significant minutes with the Rockets this year, we will have failed miserably in our search for a servicable center. We need to ship both Hill and Thabeet off while we can still get 2nd rounders for them. Especially Hill, who i've watched closely ever since he joined Houston, and has appeared to make zero progress.

When you're undersized inside you have to work maniacially to affect shots. That often gets you out of position to rebound, which is what I think really killed us last year.

Think about how easy Deke used to make it look - affect a shot, then just turn for the rebound and get it because he was the longest, tallest dude out there.

Can Dalembert be Dikembe-lite for us? I'd watch that for a few years...

    Disagreed ... Respectively

I wouldn't say he's made zero progress ... Just not consistent progress.

Hmm, am glad your not GM of this team. Yes I have seen Hill play. There was a reason Morey signed McHale as head coach and I think Morey knows there are some "young" bigs on this team that have a lot of upside. I don't see Morey getting rid of Hill and Thabeet for 2nd rounders until McHale gives him the green light or their part of some sort of package to get them a star player. IMO
