I know, so you very may well miss out on all three and either 'settle' on a guy like Dalembert or lesser. I still pass on Nene, Chandler. Not simply worth it.

~18 mil for Nene, ~21 mil for Chandler. Ha, can't imagine the price for Dwight Howard.

The Rockets should start Thabeet and play him extended mins throughout the whole season. It'll greatly help the team get that top 5 pick in the draft.

Not true, as limited as post defenders are in the league Nene still does not stand out defensively. He does not block shots, or rebound and is average to slightly above average in individual defense. In 9 years in the league he has never been considered for any all-defense teams. Perhaps you are confusing him with Marcus Camby or maybe even Kenyon Martin who are both better defenders.

Defensively Nene is average or slightly above average. His individual defense is only slighty better than Chuck Hayes, mostly due to his height which allows him to get about half a block more a game. He is even with Chuck on ability to draw charges and steals. His size also gives him the ability to play more mins defending the post without breaking down.

Since we are comparing the 2, in his 9 years in the league vs Chuck Hayes 6 years both players have only one season in which they started all 82 games. Also, Chuck has WAY more triple doubles!

I think Nene gets more credit as a team defender, defending things like pick n rolls; but then again he has played with other shot blockers which greatly improves your team defense.

Eh, I was just picking on The Chief since he was the only one of the big 3 to not venture into coaching/front office work.

Nene is not a good option.. Our team needs a defensive shot blocking big.. nene is not that

    - therefore we would need another big who can do those things
    - the problem is, we would need a big who can block shots, be defensive but can also streth the floor
    - you cant pair dwight and nene because of spacing issues.. You cant pair nene with say, scola because we dont have a shotblocker.
    - the only way nene works if we get a big who is defensive and can stretch the floor (but there are few of them in the leaugue

Our team doesn't need a shot blocking big.

Dalembert is a shot blocking big, Thabeet is a shot blocking big. The Rockets need all star caliber players, which Nene is.

Wouldn't we have to get rid of our shot blocking big to get Nene?

History says otherwise. Maybe George Karl has been holding him back?

Rockets very active in center search, source says. Nene, Chandler at the top of front office wish list.

I don't understand why we just don't play Thabeet.

I really think if he actually got a chance to play on a regular basis he may develop. At least give him a chance to try.

...Probably because the Rockets want a chance at winning a game or two. Thabeet would destroy that possibility. I cannot wait to have him off the team.

How did we trade Shane for his scrubby skills? Yuck.

So, I guess this answers the mystery of why Morey wasn't on the flight with McHale.
