Untrue. Suppose the Rockets give NO a package that include Lowry, Scola(to make up for West), and some young guys, say Motiejunas and NY's #1. Something to that extent.

Because once the 09ers get off the books next year, the Rockets will have max capspace for Dwight Howard. You think Dwight Howard wouldn't take a hard look at the Rockets with CP3 and Martin? Two players in the prime of their careers? As much as we Rockets fans don't care for KMart as a star, put him next to CP3 and Howard, and he's at least Ray Allen if not Reggie Miller.

Sure, it's a gamble. But which path for the Rockets wouldn't be? Being perpetually medicore is a gamble. So's tanking. So I don't care if that's the risk.

I think with his efficiency, in that situation he'd be top 5 in the league in points. That'd be the perfect situation for him. I really think Dwight would kill to have a perimeter player like him.

CP3 and DW have 2 different value sets. They are worth the world in a sign and trade. For a rental they are worth just a portion maybe a small portion of the sign and trade deal.

You just cannot bet the house on a rental who has already said that he wants to play in New York.

Look, the truth here is, the Rockets have way more depth than they can handle at this point. Even players like Terrence Williams and Johnny Flynn might not even sniff the court if the team stays healthy.

I trust Morey to not get ripped off in any deal for a superstar, and even if he does give up a fan favorite like Lowry, this team has the depth to give up a few good players and take a swing at getting CP3 and possibly Dwight, if he wants to team with Paul next summer.

In the end, he may not be able to play for NY. He'd have to give up a lot of cash to sign there as a free agent. They definitely can't put together a decent trade package for him.

Exactly a roster with 12-15 NBA rotational players without any star is not a good place to be, at some point you got to do a 3 for 1 trade...

I hate all of this talk.

Everything you guys are saying makes perfect sense. The Rockets definitely should do whatever it takes to get CP3 here, even if he's not willing to sign an extension. They have so much depth that they could offer their solid core guys in return for him, and still have decent backups to fall back on.

But even with all of that said, and it all making sense... it's still not going to happen. It never does.

Trading for CP3 could convince Nene to sign with Houston. I could see them clicking well together, hopefully making it hard for CP3 to leave in FA.

I think it will take a package of...

Lowry, Lee, Bud, Hill, Dragic, rights to Moti, NY #1, TPE, cash

    for

    Paul and Ariza

(flip Ariza to another team immediately:eek:)

Sure, and I agree. But you argued that Morey doesn't care about the extensions. Clearly, in this scenario, he's banking on an extension, so he does care.

My only point was that any scenario that involves trading for CP3 and having him walk at the end of the year, is not good for the Rockets. So while Morey should be willing to take the gamble, it doesn't mean he cares any less about the extension than other GMs.

i support this move. if cp3 stays after his contract is up, fantastic, but if he doesnt, then we suck which is better than being mediocre. i think the trick is to be able to trade the right players

Would love Paul on this team. I'm sure the Hornets would love to get Lowry + Chase Budinger + Jordan Hill + Thabeet + Draft Pick.

if we can snag okafor atleast we have a decent center if nothing else goes right.

I can see us giving lowry, chase, ppat, thabeet, using our trade exception and possibly martin or flynn

    leaving us with
    cp3, dragic
    lee, amnesty player
    twill, morris
    scola, hill
    okafor, random old center

with that i think we could make a move for howard in the future by sending any picks we have left along with hill or okafor.

ok maybe ive played too much 2k but ehh

I think we can use our TPE from the Battier trade to take back Ariza which is attractive to the Hornets.

Morey doesn't care for it BEFORE the trade. That's the difference between him and other GMs(Mavs being the exception).

Everything in life is a gamble. And where we are now, in the perpetual mediocrity. I am willing to gamble. At the very least, we have one exciting season and start the rebuilding process next year. Given the past two years, that's not too bad.

Man, you fall for this every time..

No Bosh. No Melo. No Deron. No CP3. No Dwight.

    We can't even get Nene.

I get it. I'm just saying there isn't anything special about our situation relative to the Clippers, for example, that makes us able to not care about CP3 extending, other than the fact that Morey is simply willing to gamble.

I'm for the gamble, especially since it looks like a tank for top draft picks scenario is unlikely to ever play out with Les as the owner. But I'd still be pissed if he walked, and certainly would have rather started the rebuilding process earlier.

Not worth it..He's gonna end up at the Knicks ' GURANTEE he is..Lowry is Good enough...I know Lowry will get better and do as much as he can and he's stronger....Morey just wanna land a Rael superstar be NICE to have cp3 but if he wont sign extension n we gon get rid of good players then no....just sign a center...and go for DWIGHT allt he way!!!! Only thing we can depend is the same player and sign a center. or new players if so Marcus Morris / Terrence william, Lee we got alot of Players Esp Good back up that can start..K-Mart is My Favorite PLayer hes a Scorer..Dont do nothin stupid Morey. Unless we're gettin a center in a 3-4 team trade whatever it is..I just wanna hear some good news already dang!!!
