I will say pass on him at this stage in his career. Or it better be on a discount. He has been on a decline in the past 3 years.

Actually, I meant Martin/Lowry and a pick while at it. Basically, we ain't just getting him with Martin/Lowry.

    Clutch,

I think everyone forgets (or ignores) that Lowry has been steadily improving while Paul has been steadily declining. If Lowrys #'s look anything like they did post Brooks trade last year, Howard would be a fool to not seriously consider coming here given the $ we can offer and the talent we have around him.

It would also help us to have the Knicks and Heat not have success this year. If Howard sees that these superstar teams with no bench help or supporting cast keep losing, it would help our case immensely.

Your right, you do. You need supporting players like Martin and Scola, and cap room to go out grab role players. All of which we could have available to us.

As much as I love Lowry, he is not a superstar. He isn't bringing superstars here. With Paul we have a shot at it. All of a sudden, Dwight will look here as a serious destination when he leaves Orlando.

We will not be the Knicks, because 1.) our pieces fit better together and 2.) we arent a terribly run franchise.

Its not. This is sink or swim. If we lose a chunk of our team, we can finally rebuild through the draft. If we suceed, we will be a contender year in and year out. The only thing we are risking is a 40 win team.

This is a damn good post, bringing the facts.

Lowry seems to be getting significantly better every year and keeps the team playing with high energy.

But maybe it's time to roll the dice.

Rockets should not get caught up in these games.

Kevin Martin and Kyle Lowry plus a 1st rounder for CP3.

Then go after Nene aggresively in free agency after waiving Thabeet via amnesty.

    CP3 / Goran Dragic
    Courtney Lee / TWill
    CBud / Marcus Morris
    Scola / PPat
    Nene / Jordan Hill

CBud is a good offensive option but if Morris comes to camp as advertised and takes over the SF position that could be a very lethal starting line-up.

I love Lowry as much as the next guy but he is not a star, CP3 is simple as that. CP3 I think will come out firing this year, hes had time to get over his injuries.

If we dont get CP3, there is no way D12 even considers coming here because he would have signed in New Jersey to play alongside another star.

I say trade anything they want for him. If he doesn't stay, oh well....we won't be any worse off.

It would be silly not to see what the Hornets would bite for.

My assumption is that Morey offered the Hornets a slightly Rockets-favored deal to measure what New Orleans is looking for.

Morey is a smart guy and most likely understands the fiscal reasons for retaining Lowry.

But he also understands the intangible reasons for trading for CP3.

At the end of the day, Morey and management will make the right decision.

Remember.. New Orleans almost knows that CP3 will leave, therefore they can't ask for TOO much.

    Sorry bra.

The pick might not necessary, maybe a young PF (Hill).

What I don´t understand is why people prefer to add Pat Pat and Morris (young blud) instead of Martin in the deal. Believe me, CP3 will not sign an extension with us with a team like

    Nene
    Scola
    Bud
    Martin
    Him

He want´s that superstar along side him, so if we trade for him, we HAVE TO trade for D12. So my question to you is, do you prefer losing Martin or PAT and Morris (if indeed CP3 is a rental)???

For NO to trade CP3 to us, we have to be the best offer out there, Rondo is flying around, WE HAVE to include Lorwy and Martin. And the offer our young blood to the Magic, IMO

I just dont see Morey tying up Money in Nene if we got CP3, he would want to keep cap flexability to sign another star Ala D12.

I don't want Paul because chances are that he's gone at season end and chances that trading for Howard with teams like the Clippers, Bulls and Lakers with better assets seem slim. That said, this is what Morey has been trying to do for 2 years now. The Rockets have to take a chance and hope the pieces fall into place but if it fails...rebuilding the hard way is on its way.

Lowry will not attractive Howard regardless of what progress he has and will make...please get out of here with that stuff.

Can we offer a better package than the Warriors or Clippers?

If the Clippers offer Eric Gordon or the Warriors offer Steve Curry, no way the Rockets can match that offer.

Plus the Clippers have Minny's 2012 unprotected 1st round pick.

The only way this works is if we have at the very least some sense that DH12 would come to Houston if CP3 were here. I'm not completely sure of course but it seems he has California dreams on his mind. What makes anyone think even if we get CP3 that DH would come here?

I hope the Rockets braintrust has some sort of inside source that leads them to believe yes. If they DON'T.....then its an awfully big gamble to risk taking.

New Orleans is gonna want young talent and picks. If we trade them for CP3 and leave the cupboard barren enough....do we have enough to trade for DH? I dunno.

If he leaves then we essentially give up all the assets for a 1 year rental and start completely over from scratch with a lot less young talent and/or picks.

It's funny, but I didn't even get excited when I saw this.

I'd just hate seeing Lowry being traded, even if it's Chris Paul coming back in return.

I understand the whole argument for Paul, but as others have said it's one that comes with great risk.
It's probably a risk you have be willing to take, but still, it makes me feel a little uneasy.

Anyway, I think it's always good if the Rockets are 'in the mix', as -- if nothing else -- you can drive up the asking price or help facilitate a deal.

Why does everyone insist we would have to trade for Howard too? Wouldn't we have enough money next offseason to just sign him?
