Why would this change the new stadium being built? Losing the BCS bowl hurts in a lot of ways, but it shouldn't change the direction and goals of the program. And I think it'd go a long way to see this team rebound and go out on a high note, even if it's a lower tiered bowl. Would show a lot of resolve. I mean who dreamed we would have been in this position in the first place...ranked #6 in the nation playing for the Sugar Bowl! And we still go the Big East invite on the table.
Is this for sure? The Kraft Hunger Bowl or whatever was supposed to take Army, but Army didn't qualify. Couldn't they go there instead?
Big 12 would have to invite them first. Don't think it's too late though for invites. Could be wrong, there still seems to be shuffling going around.
It's been 12 hours since the loss and I'm still feeling the pain. I wasn't expecting this at all. I knew it was going to be a tough game and never took USM lightly but we completely stunk down there. It makes our season look like one big fluke now and it will be hard to gain respect again. It's kinda like when Hawaii got stomped by Georgia in the Sugar Bowl a few years back... but at least they made it to a BCS game. Oh well, it was a great run while it lasted. I hope Case, Pat and the rest of the seniors can move on to bigger and better things. I hope the program continues to grow and the fanbase stays strong. Go Coogs!
I think that'd be great for UH a chance to play with the big boys. I think UH players can get up for that Also looks like the changed the time I went to last years game I believe it was 11 am the day after New Years Eve which is beyond brutal
Same here. I could have taken a loss if it came earlier in the season...but they sure picked a bad time to lay an egg.
LOL, the perfect is not the enemy of the good. But hey, if your standards for success are an undefeated season and a sugar bowl, then more power to you.
Ranked #20 in the latest AP poll. Still way overrated in my opinion. You get clowned AT HOME by the #24 team in the country, you don't deserve to be in the top 25. NO QUALITY WINS all year
Pretty much. First team they played all year totally exposed them. No way can you be ranked after that.
So you go into Tulsa, who is getting the 3rd most votes outside of the top 25 at the time, and blow them out, and that's not a quality win? You beat the WAC champ on the road, and the Pac 12 South champ, and those aren't quality wins? Really? Look, the schedule was weak, but if you win 12 games in a row, you deserve to be ranked, even if you lay an egg.
LMAO you're grasping for straws. UCLA finished the year 6-7 and La Tech? um, yeah brah -- if you're arguing for La Tech to be your quality win, then well, yeah.
bigtexx is right for once. UH didn't play anybody all year and when they did play a "decent" team they got embarrassed. I'm a UH alum and I can tell you that this #6 ranking and possible BCS bowl was a fraud. Sumlin reaps the rewards tho.
