Yes, it started Black Friday, I got it saturday. I don't know if they still have it going now....AT&T had it for 199 and amazon for $150. I was going to go with Amazon a week ago, but it paid off to wait.
I've had the Galaxy S II on AT&T since the day it was released and there really is no difference for the things I use it for from the iPhone 3G I used to have (in terms of general functionality), to be honest with you. I like the larger screen, all my apps that I used to use on my iPhone are on Android, I love the screen clarity/resolution/color depth, the camera is awesome, etc. The only negative I've seen so far is the battery life hasn't been as great as I would've hoped.
http://www.amazon.com/Case-Mate-Cas...1_fkmr0_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1322784244&sr=8-3-fkmr0 I got it for $14-something + $1.99 slowascrapshipping. I got the white because I couldn't find the black one anywhere near as cheap, but in retrospect, I think the white case looks pretty slick. It does bulk up the phone and weigh it down more, but I actually like that. The phone was so thin and big, I was afraid I was going to drop it.
It's too early to make a decision. By the time January comes, there will be at least 3 new Sprint phones(Both the Galaxy Nexus and the Note, at the minimum) released. Sprint has really be suffering with capacity issues for 3G/4G data, since the Iphone4s was released. They have upgraded many towers, but there are still tons of complaints and horrible speed tests. As others have pointed out, Sprint is slowly moving away from Wimax and moving on to LTE. I doubt that Clearwire spends much money on upgrading capacity for Wimax, since they will have only enough money to add LTE to their towers. You can expect their 4g WIMAX service to be constrained for the next 2 years, as they try to limit WIMAX tower upgrades. You are basically left with only 3G for both phones. It's all a matter of which features you desire more. If you want are in Texas, AT&T's LTE network is active in Houston and Dallas. Verizon has 4G LTE in many places.
I picked up a Galaxy S2 from amazon on sprint during the penny sale, love it so far. Tethering my phone in 4G mode to my laptop is freaking sweet. Only complaint is that the battery drains fairly fast and the phone is so big it's hard to hold/use sometimes.
The Note isn't confirmed in the U.S, and as of right now I don't think Sprint will be getting a Galaxy Nexus. However, a rumored AT&T Galaxy Nexus passed through the FCC http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/1...by-the-fcc-again-appears-to-be-headed-to-att/
