Very curious to see what Sumlin says later today about this rumor. I doubt he accepts before the game which means it will be a rough couple of days. Since other sources are denying any discussions, maybe it's false.
After firing Mike Sherman, the Aggies have Sumlin at the top of their "wish list". Damn, please don't leave Coach!
That would be perfect for Sumlin. It would be a short move, and he has already been recruiting this area, so he is already known by the recruits. How could he turn down going to a big time program in the SEC. If Sumlin makes the move I wish him all the best and it will be interesting to see what he could do with the Aggies.
TexAgs saying Richard Justice went on Austin radio and said Sumlin isn't interested at all in the TAMU job. Any truth to this?
I couldn't begrudge Sumlin for going to A&M. However, if he bails before the bowl game and steals recruits, I will wish him a nice fiery eternity in hell next to Arthur Briles.
SPORTSbyBROOKS SPORTSbyBROOKS Just told by source w/ knowledge of the situation that ASU prepared to offer Sumlin $4 million per year.
Amen best colllege town I've been to..... I'm sure Sumlin dosn't care about that but a few other reasons why its a good gig. 4,000,000 is friggin nice as well if true
If U of H builds that stadium (and the revenue from it from a football crazy city, Ala the consistently sold out Texans teams that were bad in the past and the big H.S. football following) and continues to get more TV exposure and contracts, not to mention the very high density of recruiting talent in this city alone, couldn't U of H give a competitive offer with those schools?
Good question, no idea. But that would seem like a silly rumor if that was the case. How much does Nick Saban make?
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/...lege-football-coaches_n_794387.html#undefined Drown 'em Tide! University of Alabama's head coach, Nick Saban, has something to cheer about this year -- according to USA Today he's the highest-earning college football coach in America, with a whopping annual salary of $5.9 million. Mack Brown Total compensation: $5,161,500 Bob Stoops Total compensation: $4,375,000
Damn, if they're going to throw that kind of money around I don't think I'd be mad at him either. But after looking at the top 4 mill plus guys, its still seems a bit much for a rumor.
Looks like a bidding war for Sumlin btw ASU, Texas Agricultural & Mechanical, and - possibly - UCLA. Hopefully UH is still facebook friends with the Moores.
http://arizonasports.com/44/1474786/Report-ASU-offers-coaching-gig-to-Sumlin Who knows, either way. With that competition anyhow, UH alumni better start writing checks.
Has to be a rumor. At least wait to see if they lose to Southern Mississippi first. Sumlin better share his new salary with Keenum. Without a franchise QB the Cougars would be far from undefeated. How are the Colts doing without Manning these days?
