Knote you don't think that trade gets it done? It's much more lucrative than anything that was traded last year for Lebron or Bosh and Gasol is not even in that conversation.

I think a trade for Gasol would for sure cost us Scola in addition to what you stated. Still, a roster with a Patterson/Gasol frontcourt is still very nice IMO.

I don't see why they would want Scola they have Randolph locked up with a big contract. If they had to have a starter it would probably be Martin.

    You funny.

Although, trading to us the EXACT player we (Rockets) need....don't see that one happening.

I'm fairly sure he will get 9 million. He's one of the best centers in the NBA and can become even better.

We really needed NY to suck, a possibility that went out the window when they got Melo. Our main 2 trade assets were switching our 1st for theirs last year (which didn't happen), and their 1st rounder next year (which will be low). Unless Lowry makes another leap forward, or Patterson turns into a C. Hayes with height, our current roster will not net us any superstars. Only way we can get a star is if we suck and get a top 5 pick in next years draft and package that with a Lowry / Patterson / etc.

Shane was one of our best players capable of a max contract? Was he also EXACTLY what they needed? The Gay/Battier trades are very different. We needed Battier as we had our stars, we needed to dump Battier and it wasn't going to make them a contender. Not saying we'd contend with Gasol, but we'd be a much much better team, way better than them.

There is no way we get Gasol in a SnT. Can't remember is he a Unrestricted or Restricted FA?

    Rockets/Morey Should Target Marc Gasol

Yes, Marc Gasol is restricted but Morey should at least make a strong push to acquire him starting with a lucrative contract offer or a sign & trade with Memphis. We all know that our chances are slim but if rumors are true that he wants out of Memphis, this is our chance in acquiring a potentially future superstar center.

Time to stop thinking short term and trying to sign Nene as he would be a temporary fix. And let's stop pretending that Dwight is not LA bound. CP3 to NY? Maybe. But given that he doesn't want to insult the Hornets organization by leaving them with nothing or try to force a trade with the Knicks who simply don't have the assets for a deal that would be fair, i just don't see it happening. One thing's for sure though, Marc Gasol is a beast and he would sure look great in Rocket red plus he's the type of player who would be a perfect fit.

Marc Gasol is a role player.

I am talking HUGE bouts of fatness and general inconsistency in every area. Throwing a near max deal at him would be a Kelvin Cato esque mistake.
We are talking about a guy that averaged 7 rebounds a game last year in 32 minutes of action, and he barely outscored Chuck Hayes at the C spot. Anything close to 75 million, I would be running away Forest Gump style.

    Marc Gasol wagon...

I think we should just offer whatever it takes to get him out of Memphis and lets be real were not getting Howard or Paul. Either that or we should not sign anyone and rebuild by draft. Nene/ Chandler/ Jordan/ Dalembert are no better than are chuckwagon.. Sorry. Marc is gonna continue to get better every year.
