I have always been a pc guy. Never used apple products. My wife has owned iphones and ipads for a few years. She has been wanting to switch her pc for a mac for about a year now, but I have been reluctant to spend a grand on a new macbook. A few weeks ago I seen the 1SaleADay ad for a refurbished Apple MacBook - Core 2 Duo 2.1 GHz - 13.3″ - 1 GB Ram - 120 GB HDD for $550. I jumped on the deal ond ordered. Yesterday it arrived. I opened box expecting to see a "new" looking refurbished macbook. Instead i seen something that looked like it was bought from a pawnshop. Minor scratches and worn look. A lesson was learned from this. I don't know much about mac, but I did boot it up and every thing seems fine. My question is this. What constitutes refurbished? Everything I have purchased refurbished has always looked new.
I saw the Macbook that they had up for sale. It looks like the one I have with all the same specs and mine is about 4 years old if not older. One thing about these older white models is that they go from looking brand new to used really quickly. I take care of mine but it looks all faded and like you said has scratches. Short of replacing the whole entire case you can't do anything. I tried cleaning it and nothing...
That's why I went Black for my macbook 4 years ago. They white ones turn yellow and the cracks are very noticeable.
I think it was $1000 new after some student discount I added another 1GB of RAM on my own for like $30
