I want to move closer to the midtown/neartown area. I have friends and coworkers that live near Midtown/Memorial, and it's always a pain to hang out with them since I live in Clear Lake.

I definitely want something nice, possibly with a balcony, but I don't want to pay $900 for a studio apartment. I can go as high as $1,000 to get a two room or something with a balcony (I am a smoker so balconies are good for me).

    Any recommendations?

$1000 for two rooms would be impossible to find in those areas.

Get a roommate. Me and my roommate pay $1850 for a 1500 sq ft. two story apartment unit with a balcony in Memorial/midtown area (AMLI). Right next to the park, five minutes away from downtown, midtown, Heights, and Washington. I highly recommend AMLI units.

You'll be very lucky to find a place that satisfies all of your requirements - if it's even possible.

I just spent the last 6 weeks looking for a new apartment and I never did find anything that convinced me to sign a lease, so I'm staying put for at least another 6 months. Also consider that I was willing to go as high as $1,200 for a nice one bedroom in the same area as you. Then again, "nice" is very subjective.

If you're not a particularly private person, I'd suggest getting a roommate as mentioned above.

I have a three bedroom house one block from wash ave bra, 1000 a month. It needed a little love when we moved in. Luckily the landlord let us buy ceiling fans paint and fixtures and pay us back what we spent.

you can find it if you look.

Check out Med Center area. It's still close but prices are more reasonable.

Versailles Park and Amli Medical Center are decent apartments.

I am not so sure he'll find what he is looking for at his price range at those places. He would have to settle for a one bedroom.

What do you mean by "new apartment"? Are you saying you only want apartments built in the last year? For $1,000, that's impossible for a 2 bedroom close to Neartown. There are many older comples for that kind of money though.

Good luck. I live right off Memorial Park and for that price range, you're outa luck in this area.
