Damn Jeff Wilson, at least let us enjoy our false sense of hope 'til after the Winter Meetings.

    Killjoy.

I can completely understand a GM not wanting to make a lateral move to a worse team, despite hometown connections, etc. I'm a little surprised than an Assistant GM would not at least interview for any available GM position, though. You don't have to accept it, but to not even bother interviewing? That seems weird unless he has no future ambitions to be a GM.

I'm curious whether Crane and Friedman are close on something. Like Major said, it's weird for Levine not to even interview. Makes me wonder if he got wind that the Astros were going in another direction, and then decided to "turn them down" to save face.

We could have made him President, and that been a promotion for Friedman.

The other guy from Texas (can't think of his name of the top of my head), would still be a solid pick. He is under Levine. Has a lot to prove, but is a rising star.

Every time I see this thread title in the BBS, I think it says "The Astros have reached..."

first thing i thought... for an assistant gm to not even interview likely has more to do with his perceived chances than anything.

    or at least i hope.

I'm calling it now...despite the national media saying there's no chance he leaves sternberg, Andrew Friedman will be the next Astros GM.

Apparently, Rockies assistant GM Bill Geivett is a "serious" candidate for the job.

I really think the Astros should interview the Dodgers' Kim Ng.

Really hasn't gotten much of a change anywhere because of race and gender, but if the obvious choices like Friedman are off the table, Ng could be a star.

Ng has gotten a great deal of attention because of her race and gender.

The last few years have been so horrible that I am numb to it... it is so pathetic that I actually have to last. Can't even get assistant GM's to INTERVIEW.... this is just bad....

It means it is common knowledge that Friedman is coming here....... or the Astros as an organization are in such a pile of crap that no one wants to touch them...

Only silver lining is that Postolos knows what he is doing.

What these assistant GM's must be thinking is how long they must wait to be relevant. How many years to be at least good, much less playoff bound. Perhaps these guys dont want to spend the heyday of their years beginning at the very bottom.

It is frustrating getting all these turn downs. I very much hope that it doesnt lead Crane & Co. to get desperate and hire someone only as effective as the guy they just cut (Wade).
