Montejunas' contract did include an NBA out clauseas reported, but Im sure the Rockets front office will encourage him to stay in Europe for the remainder of the year. They know he will not be guarenteed playing time, and the D-Leauges competition level and role with his team will not be that of the Euroleauge.
But the D-League would let him learn the Rockets' system, since the Vipers are run by the Rockets. I see him staying overseas to save eligibility/money down the road.
Their season end at the very end of May. This is a 100% stone cold fact and you can take it to the bank. They will play until lat May. Any source claiming otherwise is wrong.
There is nothing weird about it. In fact, the Adriatic League teams don't even have to play a single domestic game until the semifinals of their national league playoffs.
lol..."100% stone cold fact" "you can take to bank" people who resort to using such grandiose redundancy to state a simple fact clearly know no one listens to them anymore. You have such a reputation for misinformation and incorrect facts that the rare times you are right, you have to state it in such over-the-board fashion to strike a difference between when you are spewing garbage info. "100% stone cold fact" who it hell says that. you're such a loser. go away.
I can think of someone who says it! <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/3Jji78uEW14" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
So you are claiming that his team does not play until late May then? Kindly provide the proof for this, since it isn't true.
OHMSS, what he is trying to say is that even if you're right, you're wrong. Back on track, can somebody please tell me at what time is Prokom's game against Barcelona on Thursday? I can't figure out what timezone I am looking at. http://www.euroleague.net/main/results/showgame/preview?clubcode=bar&gamecode=84 From the preview notes: This is a good opportunity to follow up on him.
So the only person on the forum that knew his season lasted until late May is "wrong". I see. Here I thought such things like that info would be welcomed here.
Dude... Prokoms website only listed their Euroleague schedule going till the end of December. I didnt see the VTB games listed. Thats the only reason why me and some others fans got a bit confused. There is no need for you to throw a parade for yourself because you were right and I was wrong. Your the type of person that tries so hard to win your argument that you forget why you were arguing in the first place. All you care about is arguing your point whether you are right or wrong. Nobody cares but you. I agree with HeyP... Go away
EDITED: I'm assuming the old rules carry over on this. For so long as an unsigned first round pick plays overseas and the drafting NBA team continues to hold that player's rights, the player will count against that team's cap DURING THE OFFSEASON ONLY (from July 1 until the start of the regular season) at 100% of the rookie scale salary for a player selected at the same pick in that year's draft. For instance, since he signed with Prokom, D-Mo will count against the Rocket's cap at $1.1345M (which is 100% of the rookie scale salary for the #20 pick of the 2010 NBA Draft, the amount presumably set by the recent settlement proposal) until the start of the 2011-12 regular season. Once the regular season begins, his cap figure will not count towards the cap or towards the luxury tax. However, starting on July 1 (or whenever his Prokom contract expires, whichever occurs first), D-Mo will go back on the Rockets' cap, presumably at $1.1345M again (since the rookie scale salaries are frozen at 2010 levels until 2013). It's important to note that most first round draft picks end up signing for 120% of their rookie scale salary, so combined with the fact that there is no salary increase for his "second year", keeping D-Mo overseas for a year will increase the Rockets' available cap room in 2012 by about $227k. That's another ~$1.2M that the Rockets can offer a free agent over the course of a four-year deal. It's not much, but it's at least something.
I said several times their season lasted into late May and people continued to claim otherwise. That it ended in either December or March. Excuse me for stating it more emphatically in that post, trying to get the point across.....because obviously the forum was NOT getting it. I don't need to be told off by people like you, for simply trying to get out pertinent info here and for trying to make people grasp it, which they were not. If you have a problem with that, I don't care. I just put you in my ignore list. So you went away.
Morey felt Motiejunas could have helped the Rockets and not just the team’s NBDL affiliate, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. “I think every player should go through that process of the minor leagues, like what we did with Patrick Patterson – and Marcus Morris might — but Motiejunas has a lot of ready-to-play qualities. He’s definitely been one of the top ten players in Europe to this point. I like that he’s getting more minutes there then he would get here, especially this year coming up. I think he’s averaging like 18 and 8 and translated, that’s (impressive). Scola averaged like 6 rebounds over there and he’s like near 8 or 9, so he’s been good.”
Live in 1 minute vs. Barcelona (undefeated in Euroleague play). Navarro won't play. http://www.ustream.tv/channel/kimiki85
I was really looking forward to seeing him play this year, but this will be better for him. He's only 21. He should be a monster by the time he comes over.
