If you would've listened to Kubes Monday media address or what he's been quoted on since. He said whenever it was discovered at halftime about Leinart he was not risking losing another QB with a 2 score lead with our D. Yates was allowed to move to the ball one drive and he did it. Have a LITTLE FAITH GUYS!!!!!!

    This WILL happen:

Delhomme will mentor young TJ throughout the rest of this season and we will get our first playoff birth ever. I see Delhomme's presence more for his playoff experience and how he can help Yates once we are playing playoff football. And with the play of the running game and our offensive line and the stifling defense on the other side of the ball we WILL make a playoff run

mmm... Texan kool-aid, ain't it grand!

To all the doubters, I would just like to point out that the Kurt Warner you were clamoring for disappeared in 2002 only to re-emerge from a giant pile of ashes in Arizona a few years later. From 2002-2004, he was nearly as bad as Jake Delhomme has been over the past few years or even worse

So give the man a break before you completely discredit this movei.

Texans = first kick in the balls
sign = second kick in the balls
Jake = third kick in the balls
Delhomme = fourth kick in the balls

I'm going to crawl away now.

    :(

I don't really get the criticism of this signing. Obviously it's not an ideal situation, but neither is losing your top 2 QB's for the season in consecutive games. Some people are acting like our choices were to either sign Jake Delhomme or sign Drew Brees.

And queue the Brett Fart fanboys in 3......2......1.....

My problem with the signing is that i believe Kubiith sign players who won't rock the boat/fanbase so that they can have their annointed player start.

when schaub was injured, why not bring in a veteran instead of the scrub they signed? because there would be a clammering that he was better than the captain checkdown after the first game and there would be a qb controversy.

and we are to expect that they signed a veteran qb to mentor the rookie? don't we have schaub? can he not mentor in this system better than a street fa?

i firmly believe they signed the worst of the best in order to limit controversy. I don't think anyone wants to see Delhomme play. that gives TJ more of a window.

Hell, why not cut clemens and sign both Garcia and Delhomme and then really find out who's better.

don't tell me it's because clemens is now entrenched w/in the system.

and if you signed the best possible alternative when signing clemens, why does delhomme immediately go to #2?

Anyone else at least intrigued by the potential of Delhomme starting against Carolina in 3 weeks? In the stadium that he nearly--miraculously--won a Super Bowl in?

That is one hell of an accusation. Do you also believe that they discuss the decision on those terms? "Well I don't know, Gary, that guy's pretty damned good and the fans know it. If we really want to go with our kids, we'd better not bring in somebody that the fans know is better. Let's sign someone who's not as good."

You got me, man! Are any of those three truly a difference maker any more, honestly? It's like deliberating between three-month-old leftovers of fried chicken, meatloaf, and spaghetti. Guess what, they're all moldy and gross!

So, to repeat my question, do you believe that they discuss the decision on the terms above? "Well I don't know, Gary, that guy's pretty damned good and the fans know it. If we really want to go with our kids, we'd better not bring in somebody that the fans know is better. Let's sign someone who's not as good."

studdog, I see what you're saying but I think you're digging WAY too deep here.

When Schaub went down, we didn't need to sign a veteran because we already had one in Leinart. Clemens was just brought in because he was a warm body who was (apparently) somewhat familiar with the system. He was never supposed to be anything other than a #3.

Once Leinart went down, there goes your veteran and you're left with a rookie and a warm body. So of course you're going to sign a veteran. They bring in 2 veterans and sign the one who looked the best at the tryout.

It's really that simple. No deep dark conspiracy to force TJ Yates down the fans throats.

Maybe because, from all accounts, Garcia's workout was awful, bordering on horrific? Or maybe because he was mediocre at best in the UFL?

Because at that point we had a veteran in Leinart, so they might have been going with the best QB available. Now we need a vet, so they go with the best vet available.
