Feigen: If Nene is the Rockets’ Plan A, what’s Plan B? They likely will trade for it

I don't see anybody saying we're frontrunners for Dwight, either. And don't misread the article, we're not the frontrunners for Nene mainly because we won't be the highest bidder. Denver can offer the most money, NJ might break open the bank. Do you want Morey to waive Thabeet via amnesty and offer Nene the maximum amount possible?

I understood the article as saying we can't offer the most money AND we aren't attractive enough for him to for less than max money even if he is "the man"...that is the depressing part. Money won't be an issue next summer but who would Dwight rather play for...Lakers, Knicks or even Clippers all things equal?

Wallace makes over $9M per season and also cost the Blazers multiple first round picks.

Also, I think Morey has his sights set higher than Wallace, who wasn't going to lead this team to a championship but would have likely prevented the team from having the room to add a real superstar.

Who does Morey have his sights set on?

Seems like a bunch of hot air if you ask me.

If we knew what Morey was thinking, it would get pretty boring around here real quick. :-D-

We need Hakeem and Courtney Lee to collude the hell out of Dwight to convince him Houston is the right place.

Sell him on the fact that we have a history of great centers from Malone to Sampson to Hakeem to Yao.

He will be the "Next Great Houston Center".

Dwight Howard. Chris Paul. Deron Williams. The same as every other team.

Is it "hot air" if it's true AND there is a way to accomplish it? I don't think so, even of those players decide to play elsewhere.

And, Deck, you took the words right out of my mouth.

ascaptjack, I realize that you are frustrated. You've done a great job of keeping us all posted about lockout events; and now you want something to happen. Perfectly understandable. But have some patience, dude.

We need to upgrade center, period. I'll gladly take a healthy Ghostface. It's not like we need offense anyway. He'd have another 3 years left as a solid player. Rockets may find it easier to acquire a star player at another position.

If Nene chooses an extra $15 or $20 million over being "the man" I certainly won't hold it against him, nor would it make me lament that state of the franchise. He's 28 years old and looking at the largest contract of his career, why do you expect him to be so willing to take a paycut? If you expect free agents to give Houston a discount you will be eternally disappointed. Even NY has to pay players market value.

Besides, the article is conjecture and not proof. We don't know what teams will offer Nene or what he wants. Nor do we know how highly Morey covets him. Feigen is guessing he chases the money. I agree with him and don't think Nene is worth the price. But maybe Morey goes all out for him, who knows?

I just want Morey to do something...

It has been years of mediocrity...

All aboard the "trade the vets and play Patsquatch and Marcus bandwagon"...

Yes but we traded 2 1st rounders for Thabeet and Williams that have a combined salary around that. I'd rather have 1 chicken fried steak than 2 big macs.

Actually, the Rockets traded one first rounder for Williams and RECEIVED a first rounder along with Thabeet in the Battier trade, so those two picks (sort of) canceled each other out.

Also, both Thabeet and Williams can be expiring contracts that can be used in trades this year with teams needing a salary dump or to clear 2012 cap room for a run at a superstar.

^ ah - thanks for the correction. However I'll believe this superstar when I see him. I just don't think there are enough ipads in the world to talk someone into joining the current roster.

Are you truly upset with Morey because we didn't make the playoffs the past two years which Yao has completely sat out? When he was last healthy we went to the WC semis and were toe-to-toe with the Lakers with Tmac on the bench.

Seriously, let's put things into perspective. It's been two years since Yao played, but the post-Yao era is just beginning. The guy just retired. Getting upset with Morey for not being able to rob another GM blind so far is crazy. Mitch Kupchak had Kwame Brown and Smush Parker as starters for two years, for crying out loud. It took three years for the right deal to come along. Patience is a virtue.
