disappointing. they could have signed me if they wanted someone to throw interceptions. i've rarely seen a guy crash and burn like jake.
He actually had a pretty good 2008 after the Tommy John surgery. My impression of Delhomme's falloff was that it was mental. He was just never the same after that January 2009 playoff meltdown against Arizona. Everyone had picked the Panthers as the NFC team to beat that year... amazing how quickly things can change.
I would have preferred Garcia (I'd go as far to say that he was the favorite going into this workout) but when it comes to quarterbacks Kubiak knows his stuff so if the Texans signed Delhomme its only because they feel he is the better fit and he outplayed Garcia plain and simple.
can a brotha give himself some props a little? http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=6421868&postcount=177
He was the guy I was hoping for. He can bring something to the table the other QB's couldn't, and at least that's something. Unless his arm strength is as depleted as y'all make it seem.
FakeJohnMcClain John McClain Workouts between Delhomme & Garcia were beyond pathetic, but the Texans had to pick one, so they chose the guy w/ the less attractive wife Awesome.
I was just listening to sports radio here on my way home from work. I live in a Browns/Steelers mix of a fan base. The sports radio guy I was listening, is pretty good, but he lets his bias get in the way sometimes. He's a Browns fan, and an Ohio State fan, and you can tell. Anyways, he starts in, laughing, saying the Texans signed Delhomme. He was saying how good they were two weeks ago, and, the whole time laughing, saying how it's come down to Delhomme. He said, "I would rather have Jake Plummer, Jake Scott, hell Dick Jacobs start for my team than Jake Delhomme." Then, started saying how you could see Jake Delhomme starting an NFL game this Sunday after the Cleveland fiasco. It took all that I had not to call in and go off on him. Not only is Delhomme in a dream situation, he probably won't see much time this season(as I knock on wood). Delhomme had NOBODY in Cleveland. His coaching was probably decent, but he will have two of the best here. Their line wasn't the greatest, either. This is a far superior situation, and we probably won't even need him. Not only that, but the guy has been successful before in a decent offense, he's just been injured. While I'm fine with the signing, I'd have rather had Garcia. Delhomme is a capable backup, though. Give him time to see what Yates can do, and get caught up, and we'll see. Cleveland sucks. God I wish I'd had called. I'm afraid of what I would have said though. My blood is still boiling. Let idiots keep counting us out...
