Traffic really sucks. You guys all drive like stupid morons. This morning, I, while driving sanely, witness a car wreck caused by some stupid moron, who, prior to the wreck, had been driving recklessly between lanes in a futile attempt to avoid stop-and-go traffic. He was tailgating somebody who made a sudden stop because of the traffic ahead. When the victim stopped, this moron tries to make another lane change, ramming the car in the middle lane who then spins into the original victim of the accident. At any rate, my point is this: Why do you people ride each other's asses!? Any sane person can see more than one car ahead of them that traffic isn't moving, so why drive recklessly toward what amounts to a wall of cars? Any gains you make are negligible and you're only making the traffic worse. So I direct my questions toward all the morons out there. Why?
Sounds eerily similar to my first fender bender. Latino guy in a truck in too much of a hurry, tailgating speeding down an exit. Sudden stop, everybody slams their brakes, but this guy decides he'll go all James Bond on us, swerves into the next lane and loses control. Bounced off my car and a couple others before finally ramming into someone ahead. Of course he had no papers.
Everyone is in a hurry. What the morons don't get is, when all their swerving and tail-gating is over and they get to their destination, they likely only saved a minute or two off their time with all their "heroic" driving. It's hardly worth it when the alternative is an accident. You are better off driving with a level head and just driving like everyone else. It's the morons driving like this that cause disruptions in the flow of traffic. By all means, speed when you have the room...but don't think you are getting anywhere fast driving like a mad man in rush hour traffic. Chances are you are saving very little time in the process when all is said and done.
What is more infuriating, a-holes like the OP describes or people who drive 10 miles under the speed limit in the left lane? Or 18-wheelers in the left lane (where they are not supposed to be legally)?
RIGHT THERE WITH YOU BUSTER PEOPLE IN HOUSTON DRIVE LIKE LUNATICS I REMEMBER BACK IN THE 50S POLICE WOULDNT PUT UP WITH THAT NONSENSES NOT LIKE TODAY IN bARAK hussein oBAMA"S AMERICA
I see your raise, and go all-in with a Vegas and SoCal. Vegas drivers (a significant number are SoCal transplants) might be the worst drivers on earth. The few years I had to commute from Clear Lake up to UH during morning rushhour seem like a cakewalk compared to driving anywhere in Vegas (including the suburbs). F YOU VEGAS DRIVERS!!!
THANK YOU tHAD ITS GREAT TO BE HERE ITS NICE YOUR NOT ONE OF THE ONES DEFENDING BAD DRIVERS I LIKE THIS PLACE NOT LIKE YAHOO MESSAGES LESS ADS
Is this the part in the thread where everyone insists that the place they live has the worst traffic in the country? The thing is, all that lane-changing in bumper to bumper traffic actually slows you down. I always stay in the same lane and eventually pass they guy who thinks he can outsmart the traffic jam by changing lanes every 10 seconds. People like that blow me away. They act like they've never seen rush hour traffic before. WHAT ARE ALL THESE DAMN CARS DOING ON THE FREEWAY AT 8 O'CLOCK IN THE MORNING?????
Really, people need to learn some math. You have a five mile commute. The speed limit is 60 miles per hour. Your drive, just in terms of highway movement, is 5 minutes long. If you want to arrive at your destination 1 minute sooner, you would have to drive 75 mph the entire distance. That's an increase in speed by 15 mph, just to get your destination one minute sooner. So tell me - in full-on morning traffic, is all your bobbing and weaving and endangering fellow drivers going to lead to a 15 mph increase in your speed? Put briefly, there is no practical reason AT ALL for trying to slalom through traffic. It just makes you ****ing r****ded, a little whiner who can't handle the frustration of a car in front of you.
Try driving in some third world country with no rules, with 50 motorcycles surrounding you (some even in your lane traveling the opposite direction), sharing lanes with horses and people pulling carts, and having street vendors take a whole lane from a 2 lane road. Not to mention the various public transportation which are supposed to make things better, actually make things worse by either driving at a grandma pace or by parking in the middle of the road blocking traffic while they wait for potential passengers. A 5 mile commute can take up to 2 hours... during certain holidays it can take 3-4 hours. Then you think, why not just ride a bike where you can weave through traffic? Then realize the pollution is so bad that wearing a mask isn't enough. So you're stuck in your car for at least 4-5 hours a day.
Anybody driving in a third world country is an elitist capitalist pig who deserves to sit in traffic for 4-5 hours a day!
