New Mexico (Davie) and Ohio State (Meyer) head coach vacancies have recently been filled. Today the UCLA and Arizona State head coach job just became available. Ole Miss is rumored to be pursuing Alabama's DC. Kansas's job is open after they let Turner Gill go this past week. Washington State will soon make a decision about their head coach. I saw their game against Arizona State and I must say the future looks bright with their somewhat phenomenal freshman QB. A&M will most likely not terminate Sherman's contract: (1) Good ole boy status (2) Money. Mark Richt of Georgia looks like he is on the hot seat after losing the first two games of the season against Boise State and South Carolina, though a win over LSU could save him. Of course Baylor and UH could be looking to replace their current HC.
That's a GD shame. **** **** **** . . . . . . Akron - Rob Ianello - ? Arizona - Mike Stoops - Rich Rodriguez Arizona State - Dennis Erickson - ? FAU - Howard Schnellenberger - ? Um... what? They started out 0-2 and then hey kind of ripped off 10 straight wins and won their division with a team loaded with freshman and sophs...?
I'm hearing alot about Leach to Kansas as well..interested to see if it will happen, considering they would look somewhat hypocritical hiring him after they fired mangino
lawls. and yeah, briles ain't going anywhere... don't know what the OP was thinking. Sumlin, Rhoades have preliminary contract discussions
Lol, Cohete....sometimes you amaze me. Why on Earth would Mark Richt be on the hot seat?? He just got a Georgia team FULL of freshmen and sophomores to win 10 straight games in the SEC, and have them playing in the SEC Championship. What more could he possibly do?? Art Briles?? Seriously?? Baylor is relevant for the first time in DECADES, and you think that Baylor is going to let him go now? That's one of the richest alumni networks in the country....he's not leaving. Kevin Sumlin? It's POSSIBLE that he leaves for a bigger name (Arizona State maybe?), but again, I sincerely doubt Houston lets him walk away after instituting such a solid recruiting plan. Another 2-3 years, and I have a feeling UH will have a solid top 25 defense to go along with their nation-leading offense. And I really, really want Kirby Smart at A&M, but I know that isn't happening.
Leach pretty much lost his lawsuit as far as money goes, but he demonstrated that the accusations against him were pretty much 100% false. I think he'd an ideal fit for Kansas, and given his lack of offers, he'd probably take a job anywhere. He's proven he can win without great recruiting advantages - and that's basically what Kansas needs.
Art Briles has an interesting decision to make - he has to figure out if his success is a result of RG3, or if it's sustainable. If he thinks Baylor goes back to mediocrity after RG3, he might strike while the iron is hot. It's the same decision Harbaugh had at Stanford, assuming Luck was going to leave. And that the Rutgers coach had a few years ago, when Ray Rice was leaving. He was a big name, being talked about for Miami and other places and chose to stay - I don't think anyone is calling for him anymore (though he may be fine with that - I don't really know). So the issue for Briles is whether he views Baylor as a long term possibility or a stepping stone.
After Sam Houston State inevitably finishes off their perfect season with a national championship in a few weeks, I hope other teams don't come calling for Willie Fritz.
A few points. Like Luck, Griffin has committed to staying through his senior year. And even if Baylor finishes 10-3, his record there will be 25-25. Based on that, who is going to throw significantly more money at Briles? Mind you, Briles does not want to leave the state of Texas either. He's getting almost 2 million a year and his contract runs through 2014, I'd say he'll be there for the duration of that unless Griffin comes back and leads Baylor to a 10+ win season.
Baylor fire Briles? Get real. I'm talking about Briles leaving Baylor for another school, especially if RG3 goes pro. Yes, Mark Richt had three mediocre and disappointing seasons heading into this season. He may have bought himself another year.
So did Vince. Almost everyone says they are staying during the season - but no one really makes the decision until they get an evaluation of where they'll be drafted. I hope he stays but I don't the mid-season denials are worth much, and I wouldn't be surprised either way. Tristan Thompson and Jordan Hamilton said they were staying AFTER the season ended last year and still ended up leaving for an NBA without a labor agreement. But he pulled off 25-25 at *Baylor*, which is incredible. I have no idea about wanting to stay in Texas - if so, that's a huge plus for Baylor, no doubt. But if he gets an opportunity at somewhere like Arizona or Arizona State - places where you can recruit better and don't have state schools dominating the region - I could see that being a better situation. I'd be curious what his outclauses are. 2014 is a long time, but I don't know that Baylor had the leverage to negotiate a big buyout, so I don't know how important that part would be. He's certainly entrenched at Baylor as long as he wants to be there, though.
he's from the area sorta...stephenville which isn't too far from waco. i would guess if the stadium issue is resolved and they move forward with building the on-campus stadium, he stays until he's no longer welcome. this opinion pulled from my rear.
