So he quit due to health issues and being "coached out" and exhausted from recruiting and major stress. Now he might be going to Ohio State? I mean, no headaches/stress issues there right now or anything. Is this a Healthy Choice?

[rQUOTEr]After a weekend where his name was bounced around like a lotto ball, Urban Meyer set the record straight Monday.

The former Florida head football coach told The Sun he never interviewed for the Arizona job and has not interviewed for the Ohio State job. And if the Ohio State job is offered, the same issues that caused him to step away from coaching this past year are still in play.

“The concerns are still there,” Meyer told The Sun. “No. 1 — my health. No. 2 — my family. No. 3 — the state of college football. I've done some research into the second one. I've found that it is possible to have balance between your job and your family, that there are coaches out there who are doing it.

“I'm in a good place right now mentally and physically. So if something happens with Ohio State, I'll have a decision to make. But there has been no interview. There has been no offer to make a decision about.”

    . . .

“If there is a decision to be made concerning Ohio State, there will be a lot that will go into it. But right now, there is no decision to be made.”[/rQUOTEr]

That sounds a lot like a "if they decide to offer me the job, I'm in" statement.

Ohio State has one of the most unrealistic and demanding fan bases and alumni of any major college. The pressure would exceed what he endured at Florida. Maybe the time off has fixed whatever problem he had and it's time to jump back in.

Word is it's a done deal and will be announced immediately after Michigan game. Link

USA Today has Ohio State playing in the Gator Bowl. That would sell a few tickets...

Watching the press conference. I know that it's easy to believe someone based on the well-crafted answers he gives in the introductory press conference, but I actually believe him when he says that the time off helped him put things in perspective and has made him more ready to be a football coach again.

The biggest thing that I came away with was that he admitted that he was trying to control things at Florida that he couldn't control and that he knows he can't do that anymore.

We'll see how long it last, but for now, he's saying all the right things.

I really wonder what these mystery health problems were. The episode that got the whole thing started was supposedly a heart attack, but then a few days later it was said to be something else related to stress.

Even over the last couple of weeks when it was all but a lock that he was going to Ohio State, there were still some quotes being leaked on on Twitter from other coaches and people that know him along the lines of "considering his health, I'd be surprised if he took a job."

Today at the press conference, he passed it off as a one-time deal back in 2009 that is no longer an issue.

Ha, one time deal? Yeah, sure, I guess. Oh well, good luck at Ohio State. Think he stays there all 6 years?

Either he has a panic attack and leaves after this season or we find out Meyer was really infected with lack of tebow.

He was born in Ohio, started his career in coaching at Ohio state and went to school in Ohio.

FWIW, OSU is the biggest brand in Ohio now by revenue and popularity, including all the pro teams they have in the state. He gets to go back and run the state like his name is Lebron James.

Definitely not Larry Brown. He was literally scared he was dying so he quit coaching. Now he seems okay so he's going to OSU. He said in the presser that he would not have taken any other job.
