Boozer was probably jus thrown out der I believe we r talking 2 da bulls seriously tho bcuz we been talking wit dem since last year
I could see Morey exploiting the Amnesty Clause and trying to snag another 1st rounder in the process. As much as well all love Scola, it's time to hand the keys over to Pat Pat at the 4 and see what he's made of. It's no secret that: 1. McHale wants to protect the paint. 2. Scola is TERRIBLE at post D. 3. Pat Pat is a much better option defensively. I'm not sure how the contracts line up, but if the Bulls are high on Scola: Rockets Trade: Scola Thabeet NY's 2012 1st round pick (Top 5 protected) Bulls Trade: Boozer Charlotte's unprotected 2012 #1 pick Rockets use amnesty clause on Boozer and Chicago has the option to use the amnesty clause on Thabeet.
Link? http://www.peachtreehoops.com/2011/11/27/2589835/nba-amnesty-clause-further-explained-in-tentative-agreement Amnesty •Each team permitted to waive 1 player prior to any season of the CBA (only for contracts in place at the inception of the CBA) and have 100% of the player's salary removed from team salary for Cap and Tax purposes. •Salary of amnestied players included for purposes of calculating players'agreed-upon share of BRI. •A modified waiver process will be utilized for players waived pursuant to the Amnesty rule, under which teams with Room under the Cap can submit competing offers to assume some but not all of the player's remaining contract. If a player's contract is claimed in this manner, the remaining portion of the player's salary will continue to be paid by the team that waived him. The first bullet point seems slightly ambiguous. It says only contracts in place at the inception of the CBA. It also uses the language "prior to the season." Which leads me to believe that we could trade before the season and cut him before the season. I'll look for further links.
Thanks and +1 I also just saw that the 1st round pick that Chicago received from Charlotte is top 14 protected in 2012, top 12 protected in 2013, top 10 protected in 2014, top 8 protected in 2015, unprotected in 2016.
You guys must know something about Boozer that I don't, because it looks like Scola is as-good or better-than Boozer already, and for a much better price. Boozer is a better passer, but that hardly justifies his contract relative to Scola's. This being the case, the other parts of the deal would have to heavily favor the Rockets to make it worthwhile. (BTW, how awesome is it to talk about this stuff again? Hooray no more lockout!)
remember, they were doing well until Boozer stopped playing in the playoffs. With Luis, there's no downtime.
EMPHATIC NO! Luis Scola is the exact same thing as Boozer. Boozer cannot stay healthy. He is actually a downgrade.
Give us Asik and we are talking turkey. Other than that no and no again. Please do not do that Morey. Wasting Scola on a nothing trade. If you are gonna do a trade with Scola at least get something better for the contract you bring back.
