If I hated a TV show as much as some of y'all seem to, I don't think I'd bother watching it any longer.

    Not really.

As I have seen others post on different boards it seems that scene was to show that no matter how much Shane tries to be Carl's faux dad and enforce his teachings and what not on him Carl is always going to be Rick's son even down to his viewpoints which now appear to lie opposed to Shane's which gives Shane another reason to break with reality especially since a few seconds before in his conversation with Lori she basically told him to go to hell on the whole baby issue.

Given the statements made on that video that discusses the future of the show it appears that is exactly what they are going to do.

    i have a general zombie-related question.

when zombies feast on a corpse they tend to go all the way - remember otis? they tore him up. how come they only take a few bites out of others like sonia? theoretically, wouldnt zombies eat their victim till there was nothing left to zombify?

thats basically what they send in the post-show, talking dead. i like that show - they should do the same for breaking bad next year...talking bad?

carl is my least favorite - that kid is trying to hard to 'act'...its annoying. hopefully he gets eaten by a zombie who is into kinky sex so that next time the zombie is getting it on he can literally give his partner a 'hot carl'.

I think that was Shane's Moment . . and he failed.
Rick had to step up and finish it . . . .it was the truest 'HARD DECISION'
that Shane had been talking about. . . and he could not make it.

Its all good until you see a face you recognize.

Thanks to Clutchfans’ super spoiler about this episode (I actually enjoy the show more know what will happen…go figure) I knew Rick would kill Sophie but I thought the scene was going to be like the first Die Hard where Hans’ brother was just about to smoke John and Holly McClain only to be shot by someone outside of view and then the camera cuts to a focused shot of the barrel of Carl Winslow’s gun and then zooms in on his face where we can recognize exactly who he was.

Now replace Hans’ brother with Sophie, John and Holly McClain with Shane and Carl Winslow with Rick. And instead of being unarmed, Shane was going to be paralyzed by disbelief and the psychological block of being unable to shoot her himself.

I prefer my style of the Sophie kill-shot but this was pretty cool too.

I had the same questions. Only thing I can think of is they got bit, but are able to escape from the zombies. Only to be infected from the bite they eventually become one themselves.

Like in the first episode there was that half eaten zombie chick crawling in the park towards Rick. That one obviously didn't escape.

If you believe the cast, the second part of Season 2 will blow away what we just saw.

Yeah I don't see why he couldn't have found somewhere in the RV that Shane wouldn't have known to look...like a hiding spot underneath it or something.

    Exactly.

Why did we have to see the characters go to the pharmacy to get some medication, see them get water from the well (only to find out there was a zombie in it and had to close it) yet they can't address the issue of their ammunition and food reserves?

It's not like it's a big deal, but I think it would add more depth and realism to the show. Those minor details could really add more complexity to the world.

So you question why they include certain minutiae (pharmacy, well) and suggest they include alternate minutiae.

I swear, sometimes people forget we're talking about an entirely fictional show and most importantly... a TELEVISION PROGRAM.

I think it's safe to say that people who feel the deep abiding desire to nitpick any tiny thing that doesn't make perfect sense to them in a TV show will never enjoy this or any other fantasy world styled fiction. Please, for the love of God, if you fall into that group, go watch CSI: Bumf**k and leave the rest of us to our weekly fun without having to hear why it's unrealistic to not get to see where Herschel gets his meat, or how Andrea got so many bullets.

I would much prefer to enjoy the tension and drama of a TV show without being assaulted with how it doesn't make sense when, once again, we're talking about flesh eating zombies. If you can point me to one account of a zombie fiction that was truly "realistic", please, point us all in that direction so we can call up AMC immediately and show them how it's done. While you're at it, make sure you go through every show you watch and pick out every pseudo-unrealistic element you can find so we can all see how nobody knows how to make good drama/comedy/reality television. Here's the thing, if you you want "realistic", go live your real life and stop wasting your time on TV, because obviously it's just way too much for you to handle.

The realism of this show is one of it's main aspects. It adds more credibility to the atmosphere of the show.

Ammo is a pretty standard concern regarding post-apocalyptic scenarios. It's something this show has already explored as well. In season 1, the group went back into the city to grab Rick's stash of weapons and ammo because they needed it. In this season, Otis and Shane had a dire situation where they ran out of ammo.

Obviously, it is a concern. The fact that after all this, they have the characters needlessly waste ammunition without finding a source of it leads to the audience thinking that ammo is merely a plot point when it needs to be. Ammunition is only a problem when they have to sacrifice poor Otis.

When they do that, the writers can discredit every other plot point only to create drama. They can be as inconsistent as they want to be. When that starts happening, the audience will have disdain towards any plot hole for the sake of drama.

Plot holes and other inconsistencies ruin any story. The audience has a right to complain about them.

The constant complaining is still annoying.

It is annoying to keep being constantly underwhelmed with this show not meeting the expectations that the audience has set for it.

With the ratings it gets, it should be a much better show. Although, I have set higher standards for this show as it's on AMC and has higher ratings than their best dramas.

I have no idea why someone who is constantly underwhelmed by a show continues watching at all. It seems like such a colossal waste of your time. If I get overly annoyed by a show and it becomes not worth my time, I stop watching. See: Heroes, Season 2.

That's pretty much my point - people who seemingly find it so full of plot holes and average to below average, yet tune in every week. It's just.... well, stupid. That's when it becomes b****ing for the sake of b****ing. Consistently under your expectations, but you're there every week. I wish I had some weak weed to sell you.

People that keep coming back are probably hoping it will get better. The comic it is based off is so great, some are hoping the show will get back on track and also be great. I don't even know why the writers have decided to deviate so much from the comic when they don't have to.

Game of Thrones hardly deviates from the source material and is a hit with even the most staunch book fans. I don't see why TWD can't do the same.

Well they CAN if they want to. But, they don't want to. The writer of the comic is involved in the production of the TV series, and he's specifically stated multiple times that the comic and the TV show are separate entities and he wanted it that way from the get-go.

And, I have to say, to portray the level of craziness that went on in the comic, they'd have to do this show on HBO.
