But the problem with doing the quest is Spoiler there's no backing out once you're inside the house from what I could see. The doors lock behind you until you agree to go do some killing. I suppose I could've left the quest open. What's even dumber is that Lydia continues to use her Dwarven draining 2-handed axe instead of the mace. Maybe if I get her another one-handed weapon, she'll use both. The Mace of Molag Bal is one-handed, isn't it? *sigh*
Yeah that's another problem with the Daedric quests is that you just stumble onto some of them. As for handing followers weapons/armor, the followers have their own specialties for combat so they only utilize certain weapon sets and spells. For example, some characters will dual wield, others will use 2H weapons, or maybe even a 1H weapon and a spell in the other hand. My follower (Aela the Huntress) will use a bow to attack from long range until enemies close in. Then she uses the Ebony Sword (drains 25 health) and Ebony Shield I gave her. With armor, they'll use whatever you give them as long as it has a higher rating than their default.
See, that's what's weird... she's supposed to be proficient with 1H weapons and archery. Maybe I should get her a shield. As a matter of fact, that's what I'm going to do, I think. She's been using 2H weapons and bows so long, I may have screwed things up since she's never had a shield.

from what I can tell from using Lydia for the entire 21 levels I have done is that she prefers 2H even when given a 1H weapon with higher damage. She did surprise me lately by dual wielding two staffs I had given her to carry. On the House of Horrors quest, I always save before starting new quests which saved me from having to follow thru with the quest. I'm just gonna ignore it for now. I'm currently re-starting the main quest, I had been doing like others and getting side-tracked with misc quests( I have at least 30 of them listed that I need to eventually start knocking out), but finally made the trek up to see the Greybeards. I'm on the quest for the horn when I fire the game back up. Football and housework keeping me busy this afternoon.
I've been highlighting all of my quests so they're all active at once so I can knock out multiple ones in the same region. Finally got it down to a manageable level.
Spoiler True but when the quest started it was to help a guy get rid of vampires or other bad creatures. Along the way the guy your helping starts attacking you because he becomes possessed by Molag Bal. After killing him in self defense, it makes sense to go and see what was causing the issue and possibly get the reward. Once down there I get trapped and the only options are to kill the priest of the Boethia or rescue him. I don't have any other option. So I decide to rescue him. Then once I do that I have to either leave the quest open and the priest I rescued trapped forever, or kill the guy I just rescued. As a good guy I wouldn't do either, but I didn't know those would be the only options starting out the quest. At the beginning I was just going to kill some vampires or ghosts or something which is something a good character would do.
Seriously, how the hell did this game controller/UI get pass the PC version? These controllers and UI was meant for the consoles and they didn't even bother to change it for the PC users. Keybind are totally useless. Opening up with one button but can't close it with the same freaking button so you have to reach all the way to the tab to close everything. Just give me an inventory at the bottom of the screen and all I need is a left mouse click and I'll be happy.
Can't disagree there. They should have made the PC version UI specific for the PC and all the available keys we have. That said... 'all the way to the tab'? It's like two keys away from the W key. lol
I'm using the arrow keys not ASWD. I have been using these keys for my movements since I don't like accidentally hitting the wrong keys and my keys doesn't glow in the dark. The problem with this game keybind is that it doesn't like it when you choose another key. I thought putting the Favorite on my mouse would help but it will open but not close it. It will only open and close on the default key for the game. I don't want to be continuously changing spells or grabbing food to refresh my health through this tedious and nonsense taking you right out of mid combat. Just put the damn empty inventory at the bottom so it will be an easy access without the ridiculous amount of key binding you have to reach for.
Ok found mod that fixes the key binding problem. This work nicely now I can open and close with the same button. Hopefully a new UI mod is coming that will enhance this game experience. http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=88#content
Alright I'm bored with the 2000 damage sword and being in god mode... going to start a new character tonight with some unique gameplay. THE DRUNKEN PACI"FIST" KNIGHT I will not yield 1 weapon the entire game. I will be drunk in game as much as possible. Here's how it will work: 1. Heavy armor has a perk called Fists of Steel where my armor rating on gloves is the damage I do with my fists. I can make potions that increase my armor rating by quite a bit. 2. The Khajit (cat people) have a racial that gives +15 damage to fist attacks. 3. I'm going to max enchant Heavy armor (Armor, Gloves, Amulet, Ring) and Unarmed damage(Gloves and Ring). I'll also reduce illusion spell (I'll make mobs fight each other instead or fear them) and conjuration spell (Nothing like summoning something to do the fighting for me) costs with my other enchanting options. 4. I'll deck out a follower to do more fighting for me. Perk points will be spent as follows: Heavy Armor: 10 points Alchemy: 7 points Enchanting: 8 points Smithing: 6 points Illusion: 9 points Conjuration: 10 points My current character has gloves with 247 armor. This one should have a lot more when enchanted/potted up.
Hahah. That sounds pretty cool. I'll have to think about how I'll do my 2nd go round. Currently I'm destruction mage but find it too easy with unlimited mana. So I've resorted to un-perked archery and sneaking.
This game have more holes than swiss cheese. <iframe width="853" height="480" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/HooIbHOjN7c" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
