After yesterday, the Texans have racked up 35 sacks....more than they've had in any full season since 2005 (37). It's probably safe to say that we'll have established a new franchise season record before Christmas. Congrats to Barwin, Reed, Mario, Smith, Watt, Cushing, Cody, Wade Phillips, and the rest of the wrecking crew.
Wade Phillips = Rock. Star. If the Texans were to somehow miraculously work up enough offense to get a playoff W, Wade's standing in Houston may begin to rival his daddy's, even with just one season under his belt. I had forgotten how FUN dominating defense is. Seriously fun. House of Pain II. It's been an epic defensive season.
Yesterday, for the first time in my life watching football, I wanted my team to be playing defense instead of offense. I legitimately thought it was more likely for us to score from defense than offense.
I've been one of Connor Barwin's biggest critics during his entire stint in Houston, but...4 sacks yesterday? This is real life, not a Madden video game, right? I mean that's just sick.
You're not joking. I was actually EXPECTING J-Jo to return his INT to the house, and was actually a little disappointed when he didn't. This defense, coupled with the running game, is what is keeping me from chugging a gallon of bleach right about now. I think we still have a shot at winning a playoff game in Reliant.
Am I the only one that screamed "PUT THE F***ING BALL DOWN, CHRIS DISHMAN!" when he was holding the ball up?
The offense did give up more points than the defense. Though the Jags have a terrible offense. Blaine Gabbert is terrible.
FYI, this has us on a pace for an insane 54 sacks as a team. (NFL record: 72, '84 Bears) Barwin on pace for 12 Reed on pace for 9; 11 if you consider his pace as a starter Pretty incredible.
Cushing and Joseph safe bets... I would have picked Manning over any remaining players... But oh well....... 2 Pro Bowl starters will do... With 5/6 alternatives
You know your defense is good when one guy crawls for his sack, zombie style. Was that Barwin or Watt?
The only time I have seen Jackson recently is when he is committing pass interference (whether called or not). Those plays he was really only turning his head around to be able to make a play on the ball. I have been wondering for a couple of weeks if he has become a much better player or that he has just be playing against worse WR/QB tandems. Granted, he does have the benefit of getting lots of help as Joseph has been dominating the left side of the field by himself.
Totally agree - same goes for the Horns except that has been every week, not just a half+some as it was with the Texans. My wife and I love travelling to away Texan games, but that will have to stop with the current trend we have. Dallas v Texans in cowgirls stadium = loss, last year MNF against Colts in indy = loss, Ravens v Texans in baltimore = loss, Texans v Bengals in Cincy = day after I got seats (3rd row 50 yd line behind Texans bench) Schaub is out for the season! I can't take this anymore!!!! If we do not beat the Bengals in Cincy, I will have to stop going to the away games.
does anyone know what that celebration that Barwin and Cushing had going on was all about? It looked hilarious.
