I believe the Bulls have a 2012 unprotected 1st round pick from Charlotte. That might be the only source of attention from the Rockets front office. If taking on Boozer for a few more years gets them a top 5 draft pick, Im sure they will entertain the offer. Otherwise, they would be out of their minds to look at Boozer for Scola straight up. However, I would not be surprised one bit if Houston gets engaged in talks with the Bulls on multiple trade scenarios. The Bulls have ASSETS the Rockets covet.
Wow, you guys are really jumping the gun on the Boozer demise theories. No doubt he had a bad year, but he was a 20 point scorer AND top 5 rebounder in '09-'10. Now, I'm not saying I'd take the deal either without some serious sweeteners to counter the bad contract, but it's not THAT far-fetched.
Didn't know about the Charlotte pick. Although I think it will be more in the 10ish range than top 5. Still, high pick in a deep draft is good if the Rockets are tan...err... rebuilding. I think a potential deal off the top of my head would be something like Scola Courtney Lee Jordan Hill(match salary, expiring, big body) Perhaps a lottery protected 1st? for Boozer Asik Charlotte's #1 Gives Chicago a more formidable lineup and a PF who at least won't get injured every year. The Rockets give up the Dwight Howard pipe dream and gamble that they hit the jackpot with one of their 2 lottery picks next year.
I'd say no thank you just because of the difference in salary. But the fact that it's Carlos Boozer we're talking about I will say HELL NO.
Good trade for both teams.. Lowry/Flynn Martin/Dragic/Williams Budinger/Morris/Williams Hayes/Patterson/Boozer Asik/Hayes/Thabeet Would be a pretty good/balanced team, plus better chances in next years deep draft. Do it Morey!

It would be more like Bulls get: Scola,Bud and the battier trade exem. Rockets get: Boozer, Charlotte's unprotected (pick 6-10 range),Gibson maybe the rockets have to give a early second rounder they got from minny this year.
The idea of having Charlottes unprotected, packaging our mid round and new yorks mid round pick to a building team like for an earlier pick in the top 10 is beyond belief... this is not only a deep draft but a PF and SG heavy draft. This has OKC rebuilding written all over it.
This is something the Rockets would entertain Im sure. The Rockets almost never do deals that are straight up player for player and taking on additional salary. Like most trade scenarios, they go nowhere, but I wouldnt be surprised if different scenarios like the one you just mentioned hasnt been discussed.
Isn't Boozer good friends with Dwight Howard? Maybe this is another piece to the friends of Dwight recruiting party.
The Charlotte pick is protected until 2016. The thing about it is that since Charlotte sucks, there's a possibility that it could very well be unprotected by then. But it's a non-lotto pick for 2012.
also dont forget Boozer has an existing contract and should be subject to Amnesty if the Rockets merely used him to get something in a deal. Giving up a 1st round pick just to get rid of Boozer wouldnt make sense for the Bulls though. This deal would end up being one of the more complex deals Morey would have done in his tenure as GM when all is said and done.
