I think someone will definitely give him a shot. You don't put up those kind of numbers year after year (while getting better!) if you are unworthy. Probably around 4th/5th round.

Will he make it? I have no idea. He obviously has a great skill set, tons of experience, leadership, competitiveness, clutch, humble, fundamentals, pocket presence and intelligence. His weaknesses are glaringly obvious as well: undersized, some may question mobility, age (not old but still up there), system qb (debatable), etc. You know what you are getting with this dude.

If Case is on anyones' roster in 3 years, I'd be surprised... There's a reason these type of Qb's don't make it in the NFL.... Their glaring "college-game "weaknesses are magnified x10 in the NFL...

When defenders glare at him too harshly he tends to develop whooping cough.

So is Kevin Sumlin as good as gone this offseason?

A lot of attractive openings already: UCLA (probably); Illiniois, UNC

I could also see him interviewing for A&M if Sherman goes or Ole Miss.

Nope. He won't be gone until a premier program in the heartland opens up.

None of the programs that are currently open are anywhere near his radar. None of them are located where he wants to be, none of them pay enough to justify leaving (in fact, some of them would be paying him even less than he's getting here), and none of them are prestigious enough (save for Penn State, but that's toxic) to warrant consideration.

He'd definitely take a look at A&M, but I wonder if they could afford him after buying out Sherman... and also whether or not Summy wants to be "that guy" in College Station.

Doesn't strike me as his type of crowd.

Right so he'll content himself with battling Southern Miss and Tulane rather than step down to Chapel Hill, slum it in Westwood, or play in the big 10, while his mythical ultra prestigious heartland job opens up.

or he might do what rational people woudl do and sell high.

I'm not very familiar with A&M traditions.. so why are those guys grabbing their nuts and screaming? Do they get hit in the nuts whenever someone scores?

He should. Who knows how well UH will do or won't do without Keenum?

errr, Donald you do know that Sumlin coached a couple years at A&M, right?

and do you really think he'll stay around UH after Keenum leaves? It's back to reality after the 6th year QB is gone!

    1) UH is going to the Big East, and likely bigger places beyond that.

    2) Who the hell just goes to a program because of the conference it's in? Big 10, schmig 10. If it's an attractive job, you take it. We know where Sumlin wants to live and work, and those places are not it.

    3) Why "sell high" and risk going somewhere you might fail and screw up your chance at the job you covet (OU)?

It doesn't seem rational to take a job where you're getting paid less, you have to work more (rebuilding), and you're also not happy because you living/working in a place you don't want to be.

Ehhhhh he won't get the OU job for another 10 years minimum. Stoops can go 8-4 for the next 5 years and he will still have job security. That's what winning a few bowl games and recruiting awesome recruits will do for you.

Herp derp, yes I do. That's why I said he'd definitely be interested. Does that mean he wants to lay down roots as a HC there? Who knows. It was his first chance at being an OC, so that's likely why he went there, rather than some deep burning desire to be an Aggie.

And why would he leave after Case goes? He wasn't going to leave after it appeared Case was finished last year, so why would he change his tune now? In fact, Sumlin is one of the few coaches I know of who gets very irritated when people speculate about his job. He is quite vocal and adamant about his satisfaction and desire to stay in Houston.

I don't think he'll leave , the jobs out there aren't any better than he has at UH. Now if a school like Tennessee or a Scar opened up by a chance, I think he would bolt.

I love it when know-nothing tardos come into UH threads and tell me exactly what is going to happen to a program that they haven't bothered following any closer than they follow the turkish basketball league.
