He's arguably a worse defender than Fisher.

no one even talked about brooks' defense when yao was in the paint, you think it would be any different with gasol and bynum.

It made no sense for Aaron Brooks to sign China deal so close to Christmas Day push for a labor deal. Why not wait a week? Now, he's stuck.

    LOL.

He is not thinking it through, AB will be ready to come over in March, when the Suns have their roster set, any team that offers him a contract (Front loaded etc) will force the Suns hand, do they pay a massive tax hit, or just let him walk?

I think AB will come out of this better than most because it will get him out of his restricted free agency.

    Just my .02.

Nobody in their right mind will offer AB a front loaded contract or even anything close to what Lowry got.

PG position in the NBA is pretty much set for all teams and the few who do want them will look elsewhere.

Brooks got screwed plain and simple.

Brooks is the next Steve Francis. I expect his unhappiness will grow and cause him (or continue) to make stupid decisons. His game might even suffer the same way too.

    Yeah, his agent screwed up.

Missing out of free agency will leave him with very limited destinations. I wouldn't be surprised if he agreed to a 1 year contract after his stint in China.

If he agrees to a deal in March for just 1 year, it makes him an UNRESTRICTED free agent.

He will be fine, regardless of what his haters say.

Mehh... Stevie was Stevie until his production started to slide, in other words, Stevie was a desired comodity in the league until his last year in ORL when he started smoking crack

You mean a contract for less than two months? The problem for him is that he will only make half the money he could had gotten in the same span of time. A mistake is a mistake, but then again, he's supposed to earn 2 millions in 3 months at China which it's not too shabby considering his market value.

Everything is highly dependent on Brooks' performance, and unfortunately for him there is nothing he can do right now to even suggest he is worthy of a bench spot.

His stint in phoenix was sad at best, as far as I'm concerned most fans were disappointed with his performance and attitude. In fact, they'd rather keep Dragic instead. You can kind of tell that from the poll they have up in the Sun's board.

Playing in China, and even performing well in China won't guarantee Brooks anything when he does return to the NBA. Chemistry is a huge part of a team and as far as everyone is concerned Brooks needs the ball to be effective. Any smart GM would know that, and any smart GM would know it takes more than a month to integrate a ball hogging player into the offense.

It depends upon the contract he signs in March, and he will have the pick of any team to sign with. Even if Phoenix matches it, if it is a one year deal, he is unrestricted at the end of it.

Whereas if he were not in the situation in China he might have gone for a longer term contract and thus be forced to sign with Phoenix if they matched.

I think this way gives him more freedom on the long run.

Brooks has a better chance of joining the PBA before he starts for an NBA again.

    BTW, WRONG FORUM!

Brooks still has a chance at a good deal in the summer of 2012 if he plays his cards right. Or his agent does in this case. He should be able to sign a restricted deal with any team in the NBA in March, and Im sure Phoenix will have the right to match the contract.

Then this summer, truely hit the NBA market and sign a quality deal. Just make sure you hit the ground running from March to May to impress whoever might want to sign him long term. Thats my take on his situation.
