If Yao could pass a physical do you think he'd consider playing?

He is more interested in wine than basketball now.

His body was fine, his feet were the problem. His first few years were relatively healthy but I'm sure that the year round basketball took it's toll. He's been out of the game long enough for all of the minor, aggravating injuries to completely heal. For the vets minimum, if he has any fire left just struck me as an interesting, albeit farfetched something worth discussing.

I expect Yao to attempt a comeback with us at some point. I think it will be next season though.

I agree with Francis, I think this season is gone already by all means for Yao. I think next summer Yao might very well start training again for a comeback and testing the waters of how much his body can handle with more than enough time to heal. Doesn't mean its going to happen by any means though.

However, Yao would want to keep whatever comeback he has in mind very low key, so dont expect to hear anything about this going into next season, but I wouldn't be surprised if he shows up at the facilities next year for a few weeks of workouts.

It's not about physical, his issue is mental.

I love Yao Ming! Would love to see him back in Rockets Red, maybe he can do a Zydrunas Ilgauskas and have a productive career now that his feet have healed...
Come on big guy, give it one more go!

I read a report last week that stated that he has gain 25 lbs since announcing his retirement. No way he is coming back!

Yao is not going to skip class just to play basketball. His tiger mom won't let him do that. Stop dreaming.

Or we sign Curry and give Yao his legs.

Even if he passes a physical, theres no point for him to even play anymore. He knows that he will break down again and have another serious injury. Im sure he doesn't want to go through rehab again. Plus Yao want to be able to enjoy his life after the NBA without complications to his legs and foot. Its not worth it.

Yao Ming retired so lets keep it that way. No point of trying to get him back just for him to play a few games and get another major injury again. If Yao wants to live a good healthy life where he can actually run around and play with his daughter and be there for her growing up, he should know whats best for him. Even if he comes back, he wouldn't be able to help this team much.

You see him last year trying to play another season with very limited minutes and no back to back games and yet he hurt himself again with another major injury. I mean, he had a major injury even with limited minutes and no back to back games. So how much more limited minutes do we have to give him just for Yao to stay healthy a little bit longer? I mean 25 minutes a game is nothing and he still got hit with a major injury. What do we have to do? Let him play 10 minutes a game? Especially with the NBA season is shorten, the players have to play around 4 games a week... Yao Ming cannot handle that at all especially all those games cramp into one week until playoffs. Its not worth paying him just to suit up and sit on the bench and its not worth it for him to take up a roster spot instead of giving it to a young player that deserves to play.

I know many of you guys want Yao back on the court because he's healthy now. Well of course he's healthy, he has been rehabbing and resting for over a year now. Of course he's healthy at this point.

But that doesn't mean that because he's healthy now he can play again. You have to be considerate of the future health of his life. Being healthy now doesn't have nothing to do with him being able to return onto the court and be productive again. He wouldn't be able to keep up with the NBA today because of the faster pace they play at. He gained weight which makes him much slower plus his mobility is much worst.

Last year, he played like 5 games with 25 minutes per game and he broke his ankle due to his size. This will happen again. His legs just cannot withstand his size. Shaq lasted way over a decade without the injuries like Yao because Shaq has big and incredibly strong bones. Yao Ming is tall and he has to put on weight to bang with the powerful players inside but the downside is that his bones isn't nearly as strong as the big men in the NBA. Plus on top of not having the strong bones like the big men in the league, Yao weights nearly more than half of them.

So you should figure it out. A big man like Yao Ming who weights over 310 lbs with weak lower leg bones, plus the long 82 game season and you will get a broken bone every year. The reason why Yao Ming stayed healthy in his first few years is because he was skinny and he doesn't weight nearly as much as he do now so his legs and feet were able to withstand the pressure. But once he's in the NBA, he has to get much stronger to bang with the big strong guys so he has to put on weight in order to do that but his legs and feet no longer able to withstand the pressure he put on them.

People, please get this through your mind. He is not worth it anymore. Let the man retires and live a healthy life to enjoy his retirement and watch his daughter grow up where he can actually run around and play with her instead of being in crutches. You have to understand, last year he played only 5 games with around 25 mins a game and still went down. How many more minutes do we have to reduce in order for him to play a bit longer?

Plus, other teams will use that to their advantage every single time like they did last year. They knew Yao can only play 25 minutes each game and they used that to their advantage and that will kill the Rockets. Its just not worth it.

I don't understand why people still believe Yao can just somehow come back healthy and be productive on this court. Heck, even though he's 7'5, Chuck Hayes who is about a foot shorter than Yao can bring so much more productivity than Yao Ming.

BTW, forgot to add something... The Rockets had TWO possibly close chances of winning the championship. One is during the 22 game winning streak when Yao Ming went down with an season ending injury which prevents the Rockets highly chances to win a championship.

The other one is when he went down at the most crucial moment in the playoffs against the Lakers. At that time, the Lakers couldn't stop Yao and the great supporting cast with Brooks, Lowry, Landry, Scola, Deke and etc. If Yao Ming never went down in the middle of the most important playoff series for the Rockets that year, the Rockets would have beaten the Lakers and made it all the way past the Orlando Magic with ease and win our 3rd or 4th championship.

Thinking back about those two season ending injuries Yao Ming had, the Rockets would have won at least one or both NBA championship. After that crucial season ending injury against the Lakers in the playoffs when the Rockets pushed the soon to be NBA champions to game 7, I lost faith in Yao Ming. I just knew that from that point on, the Rockets will never have a chance that close to winning championship again with Yao Ming and his major injuries at the wrong time until one day the Rockets can acquire a new superstar that can and will be able to take this team deep into the playoffs all the way to the finals and win it all with the great supporting cast.

Won't happen - Yao is healthy and Rich and no longer wants to have his body take the abuse/pounding of the NBA - not to mention living in Hotels, Airplanes, Buses, practicing, training...
