But Houston isn't a large media market for a superstar like Brett Favre.

Steve Mariucci said to bring in Jeff Garcia over Favre for sure. Says he can run the motion stuff probably better than whoever the Texans have on the roster.

(Marciucci coached Jeff Garcia off course).

Though he didnt exactly light it up in the UFL with the OMAHA NIGHTHAWKS last year

I don't think anyone we could sign would be a marked improvement over Yates in this offense. We're one and done in the postseason now and nothing is going to change that. Yates looked pretty good at the end of the first half, so I guess let's just see what he can do. You never know, maybe he'll turn out to be fantastic for a rookie QB.

All of these veterans, save for Garcia, have been sitting on their asses right now. None of them are going to be ready to come in here and play. We need to go with Yates.

Over the hill superstars don't count. Not quite the same thing as those silly fantasies involving Dwight Howard. But this should be obvious, shouldn't it?

Sage Rosenfels may be getting cut tomorrow from the Dolphins. Lets bring him in.

Let's go with Yates. We KNOW what all these other guys have, and it's nothing special. However, under the guidance of Kubiak and Knapp (not to mention Schaub and Leinart), Yates has been put into a situation where he can succeed. Let's see what the kid can bring to the table. Sometimes destiny has a weird way of giving you opportunities....you can't pass them up in favor of better timing. Give him the chance to show what he's got.

Gary Kubiak is the real QB of this team... a main reason he loves Schaub is because he has the ability to do EXACTLY what he wants his QB to do (no "innovation" required or desired, either).

He can't force the QB not to check down (Carr), and sometimes he can't take the gunslinger out of the mindset (Rosenfels)... but he can take a QB who has natural talent and some good football IQ and turn them into a pro bowl calibur QB (if they're willing/able to adopt his mantras).

That's not fair. You know damn well the Nighthawks lacked the offensive line to protect Garcia.

Unless we can get Warner, give Yates a chance, I have a good feeling about him and that goes back into the summer. I think he is skilled, but his lack of experience is a problem and could cost the team, we will see.

It's a no brainer, really. If Warner can get in football shape, he could take this team to the Super Bowl. You grab him. Yates is a big question mark. I think he is going to be really good eventually, but we are asking a lot of a young inexperienced player.
