We are talking about the play where Yates gets called for intentional grounding not the play before the field goal. Texans were very close with plenty of time to punch it in or get a field goal if it failed.

I think running it in that situation is actually "being cute". If you don't get a TD (and the runner is tackled in bounds), you have to spike the ball to stop the clock (wasting a play), then its third down and you have to throw. I'd rather take the sequence of three possible passes over ONE run.
Goodness gracious....Kubiak can't catch a break. It was simply a play that didn't work. Had they tried to run and fumbled, folks would have been wondering why there wasn't a pass. Sometimes, plays don't work, mistakes gets made, defenses make good plays - any number of reasons.
