The new collective bargaining agreement is a win for Shane Battier because the mid-level exception was made for him. Shane will actually have his choice of teams he will be able to go to since a non luxury tax offender can take themselves practically 5 million over the cap without being hit with the luxury tax. Be honest, Shane wasn't going to get more than 5 million a year from any team that could have used his services. So this just opens the door for him to play for who he wants to play for. So where does Shane's allegiances lie? I'm going to say that Shane resigns with the grizzlies for the mid-level exception. Sorry Houston. Before, I didn't think there was a chance in Hell that he signs with the grizzlies.
Is the Heat even under the luxury tax threshold? It would really suck to see him in a Heat uniform. Don't think it will happen though.
If he joined the Heat or Celtics I would be confused. I hate those teams more than anything, but I like Shane so much.
I thought Howard was a classy guy, at least that's what bill and Clyde would say. Because he stands up for himself and teammates made him douche.
Not really sure haha, I just remember seeing him fighting a lot. He could be I'm just talking mess. But Battier isn't a curse in my mind, unless he kicked Tmac's knee or something.
Agreed on that, brother. He's just one of those great personality guys, but do not want to slow down and handicap our team.
Battier was not happy with the Rockets treatment. Not even a phone call? Yeah he isn't going to come back.
I have no desire for him to return a Rocket, he needs to go win. Maybe coming off the bench for OKC, give them a veteran who would be great in the locker room. Staying in Memph would be great for him or maybe going to Orlando.
You're right, Juwan was a great teammate for us. He was always the first guy off the bench to greet the players and was ALWAYS the first guy to run over and step up for his teammates whenever they were in an altercation. I loved him for that
Battier's time with houston is done. He seems to like Memphis, I think he'll sign there in the end, but I think he'd be a good fit in OKC.
I hope he signs with Chicago. They're a contender and he could reunite with Tom Thibodeau. He could even possibly start at SG.
He's being heavily recruited by Thunder fans and players, most significantly Durant on twitter. I wouldn't be surprised if he signs with the Thunder as their backup to Durant. He's better than Sefelosha.
I could never see Battier playing SG, but I could see the Bulls making a push for Battier. I think there are better options for Shane as far as playing time goes though. My guess is Shane Battier will be in Oklahoma City come December ....12th. Great fit off the bench. Can go smaller playing Durant/Battier at the 3 & 4 spots and Serge Ibaka at the 5. Gives them a much needed 3 point shooter to play off of Durant and Westbrook.
