Nene is absurdly underrated... Morey is a genius...

If we get Nene, we are looking great around 2012 free agency/trade market...

I feel like we could feasably add two of Bogut/Iggy/Granger/Nene/Gasol/Ajef caliber players, with our trove of assets, and add them to Lowry/Martin/Scola.

While we wouldn't be world beaters, I think that could be a consistent 53+ win team and extremely competitive.

I think we have to push through until atleast next years free agency, before we decide to rebuild. Dwight/CP3 might not want to sign here, but if we could nab them both at the deadline, I could see them resigning here.

Larsv8, I'd offer up Scola+Lee+Budinger for Granger or send Scola to a third team.

    Amnesty Thabeet.

And see if Nene is attainable.

    Lowry/Dragic
    Martin/Williams
    Granger/Morris
    Hayes/Patterson
    Nene/Hill

Nene has the choice of re-signing with a team that lost Smith, Chandler and Martin to the CBA and may also lose Afflalo to RFA or go to a team with a better supporting cast.

Theoretically, the Kings can offer him the most money but they already have Cousins in the fold.

The Thunder just signed Perkins and have Ibaka as their future starter.

The Heat could offer him the full MLE but I think he could get more on the open market.

Help me out here, who else has the best shot at landing Nene other than the Rockets? Maybe the Warriors? They would have to amnesty Beidrins for sure, something their management is reportedly not in favor of doing.

Mike Wells said the Pacers will also pursue Nene.

Basically it comes down to the Nuggets, Pacers, Warriors and Rockets. Who would you choose?

Even if it means we could still be players in 2012 FA with some structuring?

I like NeNe and all, but i think they just need to keep the train rolling forward and attempt to get Howard and Williams/paul in the summer. All the nene type does is keep the team between 40-50 wins and lose in the 1st or 2nd rd. Its not like he was dominating in the playoffs at any point and its not like we know what any of theese guys will do once on the big stage. Hold your water and try for the sharks, not guppies.

I can see the Nets offering Nene the max, or close to it. They’ve gotta build a team around D-Will FAST to get him to stay and Nene's probably the best free agent out there right now.

Nene would be a nice addition to the Rockets (seems like a total Morey guy with that crazy efficiency), but I think we will strike out since Morey won't overpay.

Unless the rules change a great amount, it will be difficult for us to restructure well enough if we have added Nene.

Nene is a good player, but I do not think that he changes the dynamics of our team. We still lack elite talent, and until we get that, we will not get anywhere.

Memphis had a nice run last year, but they are not elite.

Honestly, I would like them to tank and go for a high end talent in the draft.

If the Nets offer the max to Nene, I won't stop them. Just means they will effectively be out of the Howard sweepstakes which is fine by me.

One less team for Howard to sign to.

Yeah, maybe the Nets will just stand pat and wait for Howard. I just remember D-Will complaining about getting some players around him and his awful body language last season with the nets. Maybe they'll bank on Deron being patient and willing to wait for a bigger splash (D12).

But if not NJ, like you said, Indy and Sac can and probably will offer more than the Rockets. Nene will either follow the money over there or stay put in Denver since the Nuggets will probably re-up their offer to match.

It's Nene's last big contract and I just don't see him taking less to play for the Rockets.

The Rockets should rebuild... You know why? Because Nene isn't going to put this team over the top or make this team a successful playoff team. He may help the Rockets win just enough games to make it into the playoffs but it will be another first round exit for the Rockets as we know it.

So its better to rebuild this team and aim for not just making it to the playoffs with a mediocre team but to actually compete for the championship. Because the longer the Rockets wait to rebuild, the more painful and harder it will get. The Rockets are just prolonging the process of making it back to a contending team if they keep going after players that are just decent enough to help win a few games and patch up the wound for now instead of going back to the roots and try to build everything from the bottom up.

Anyway, Nene is a very good center but he is playing on his last tank of gas at this point of his career. He's not getting any younger. The Rockets should try to go after a young talented center through FA or draft. I much rather this team try to acquire a high lotto pick so they can finally draft a potential star player.
