Even though i hate them, I have to go with the Celtics, followed by the Spurs.

    Thoughts?

Spurs probably. We all saw how they did in the last shortened season. xD

Not sure, but I like the chances of a young running team (if Mchale keeps our offense) in a condensed season.

Celtics. Not only have they gotten a few months of extra rest, but less games means less toll on their bodies physically so I think because of the age factor, I'd say the Celtics.

Alot of people are saying the veterans team will benefit but if you think about it there will be more back to backs and young legs will recooperate faster than old legs. I think the younger teams(Thunder, Bulls, Heat) will benefit more.

I was thinking about that too, how many more back to backs will teams have to play now? The Garnetts and Duncans won't be able to do that consistently.

Celtics, Mavs, Spurs. The Vets will be fresh going into Playoffs and their experience will pay off.

Don't know why some people mention our team, young guys with a new coach trying to implement a new system benefit from a shortened season?

Not really, you expect KG's knees to hold up after playing a back to back to back?

With a likely 66 game season we will most probably see 3 games in 3 nights sometimes.

I think younger teams like the Bulls or Thunder will excel in these type of scenario.

I went with the Mavs, because they have the best over all team to deal with all the b2b's.

So many back to backs will not benefit the older teams, solid management is the most important thing.

Yeah, I think his knees will hold up. They don't always have to play him on back to backs either (similar to Tim Duncan in SA).

And no, we don't see 3 games in 3 nights. The schedule isn't going to change.

I'd say every team whose average age is over 30. Now the real question is who this puts in a prime position for a championship. If I was to pick, I'd say Celtics and Lakers. IF both teams can stay healthy and hungry, there's a real chance that we may see another 2010 Finals match-up.

I think the heat will benefit because the rest of the league wont have the chemistry and the pracrice to beat their big three. It could be good for us but were usually a second half season which is bad when its shorter we have less games to get better..ughh i hate typing on my phone

    Yep. Totally agree.

    Yes it will.

... which would be a slightly higher pace than in '99.

Older teams will not play there older folx in back to backs

    The real question is:
HOW MANY GAMES WILL IT TAKE TO GET INTO THE PLAYOFFS?

out of 66 games . . . . 33 wins get you into the playoffs?

By those numbers the Rockets finishing with their expected 2 games over 500 works ;)

I'd say preparation and management can factor in.

In the last shortened season, the 8th seed Knicks made it to the Finals cuz they came together at the right time under Van Gundy's coaching. Then the Spurs and Poppovich won it, though they surely didnt end up being a fluke.

There was only 50 games in '98-99. Now its 66 with NO offseason. It might be as brutal as a full 82 game schedule.
