Along with the 49-51% BRI band, here are some of the other details: http://hangtime.blogs.nba.com/2011/11/26/we-have-a-deal/
so when does the free agency start or will there be no free agency, probably a dumb question but can someone please answer
It's a better deal for the players in the long term. They actually are looking out for future NBA players as well.
Did anyone ever doubt that that the millionaires and the billionaires would want their money? You could have written the timing last Summer. "The Christmas Day games are sacrosanct for our fans, it's what the baby Jesus would have wanted". That being said, the last thing anyone wants is for the Dubious to be bored for even one second, so this is glorious news.
They got 51% split. They rejected 50%. So by holding out for 16 games, they gain 2%/yr of total salary over the length of this CBA. 16 games is slightly less than 20% of an 82 game season. To break even, this CBA has to last for 10 years. For it to have any substantial gain on players over time, it has to last maybe 15 years. Even the best case scenario that the owners continue to be happy with this deal for a long time, the players are basically breaking even. And sacrificing 20% of this year's paycheck to do it for basketball players will in high schools right now.
That's what they've been parroting but if they were truly looking out for the guys coming after them why didn't they make way for all the younger players and let them decide their own futures?
would have preferred to go ahead with no season if it meant stern finally getting axed in the end....would have been worth the pain of no games in the long run
My guess is that each team will play four games against teams in their own division. So that will be 16 games there. Three games against teams in their conference but not in their division. So that is another 30 games there. Consequently, there will be only 20 games against the other conference. You can bet that scheduling these will be difficult. Because they have to create a new schedule, with a four/five game road trips, and other events are being held at the team venues. Many back-to-back games to come...
Stern is probably the best sports commissioner. Or at least he was the best until this lockout. Dunno why people want Adam Silver or something instead of him
I kinda want Morey or at least Clutch to be our commish. I don't like what stern has done to the game with all the rule changes and regulations. He may be good for the business side of things, but for someone like me who just wants to watch a good game without noticing refs... he's not the guy.
WOW I just woke up and went straight to clutchfans and saw this thread. At first I was like this is a trick Then I was like :grin::grin: ROCKETS TIME
