    Andrew Fletcher of Depeche Mode. I've seen them 18 times live, and I believe he just tries to dance and plays like one key. They probably have it taped and shock him to let him know.

    I want to say the two other guys in Black Eyed Peas but the more I think about it I'm not so sure because Fergie and Will Iam are more responsible for the useless crap I have to listen to every other day.

    Speaking more generically, the guy who doesn't write songs is the most useless band member. The second most useless are musicians (not lead singers) who can't sing or contribute to singing.

    Exceptions:


    • Lead singers since they often provide the trademark sound of a band.


    • Musicians who are so good or unique (i.e. not most of them) that they contrbute to the trademark sound.

    Any bassist that ever played for the Smashing Pumpkins, aside from being hot they did nothing but play at live concerts.

    Baby Bash is pretty pointless.... Still not sure what he does.

    Ringo Starr is the ultimate "along for the ride" band member. He may have even been a semi-talented musician, unfortunately for him he was in a band with the greatest songwriting duo of all time and a guitar god.
