I am confused on how "monkey" of all the words is used so much. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/25-worst-passwords-2011-revealed-202955980.html If you see your password below, STOP! Do not finish reading this post and immediately go change your password -- before you forget. You will probably make changes in several places since passwords tend to be reused for multiple accounts. Here are two lists, the first compiled by SplashData: 1. password 2. 123456 3.12345678 4. qwerty 5. abc123 6. monkey 7. 1234567 8. letmein 9. trustno1 10. dragon 11. baseball 12. 111111 13. iloveyou 14. master 15. sunshine 16. ashley 17. bailey 18. passw0rd 19. shadow 20. 123123 21. 654321 22. superman 23. qazwsx 24. michael 25. football Last year, Imperva looked at 32 million passwords stolen from RockYou, a hacked website, and released its own Top 10 "worst" list: 1. 123456 2. 12345 3. 123456789 4. Password 5. iloveyou 6. princess 7. rockyou 8. 1234567 9. 12345678 10. abc123
Was going to post the same thing. Worst ones are the ones that require a number and a character, one capitalized, and then have the gall to add a character limit like 6-8. (banks I'm looking at you )

My favourites: qwerty letmein passw0rd Who uses these , some people have me laughing really hard.
The ones that piss me off are the websites that hold no sensitive personal information -- no one would bother to hack them, and it wouldn't matter even if they did -- and they require not only strong passwords, but strong login IDs with numbers and letters.
What I usually do is type a bunch of random letters and numbers completely at random then copy and paste that into a word document to remember. Nobody is going to figure out that my BBS password is d1829hf81h9ghf8392hf981982gd9821!
Mine is ********, but y'all can't see it, only I can. Try posting yours so you can see that only you can see it, and I'll send you back a screenshot of how yours shows up! Liar. You know it's m035t4v3rn!19!54p00p00h34d . But, seriously speaking... did you just mean "L33t" for all? That's what we require at my work. There has to be a combination of three from UPPERcase, SPECIAL character, LOWER chase, and NUMBER.
