I'm not saying we're not all in. I'm just saying that it's nice to see teams respond to situations that arise during the season to show that they're in "win now" mode - something the Texans have never been in.

The team has responded well to adversity all year, and I expect them to continue that trend, but when there is an average-quality starting NFL quarterback on the market, and you could possibly secure him as your backup quarterback, it'd be nice to take a stab at getting him.

The Texans are already "All In". The Texans did not hold any chips back before the season to go into "Win Now" Mode half way through the Season. They are in "Win Mode" and have been all year.

BTW, I love this team even with Leinart starting.

    Obviously they are.

I'm a huge supporter of this team, as seen by my posts over the last few years. I'm still hugely in favor of Leinart, as seen by my post over the last week and a half.

Overrated, Underrated, what does that matter?

All I would ask is, seeing as we worked out a crew of day laborers Monday with the intention to sign a third QB, is Orton better than them? Is he better than Yates?

I have a tough time seeing how he couldn't be.

Leinart needs to start regardless, but what we have behind him is a wing and a prayer.

While Orton's QB qualities may be better, this offense has always been about the system though. It took years for Schaub to get completely comfortable and Leinart has been working for awhile. I'm not sure how well a QB could come in to Kubiak's system and make it run immediately.

Whatever confidence Matt Lienart has about himself being able to manage this offense would SHATTERED by knowing they claimed Orton.

I want to see what Matt can do without him having to look over his shoulder thinking if he makes a mistake Orton will be in on the next drive. People need to realize that. I'm glad we didn't pick up Orton.

Orton is trash... probably one of the most unaccurate QBs I've seen in a long time.

At least you acknowledge that Leinart should start. You really think the Texans are going to bring in someone that wants to start, has been a baby all year, and take a $1.9 million hit for 6 games? This isn't Madden, team chemistry and Leinart's confidence have to be taken into account. Leinart is the wing and Yates is the prayer.

There are several factors at play here. For one, I really don't think the Texans want to pay close to $2m for a guy they hope never sees the field as probably a third-stringer. Second of all, Orton's agent is probably working the phones all over trying to make sure his client lands in Chicago, where he can actually START. It makes sense from a financial AND personal standpoint for Orton to go to the Bears. The Texans don't need Orton. Face it, if it came down to it, if Clemens (or Orton, or whoever else) is seeing playing time, the season is most likely over for Houston as it is. Why spend an unnecessary amount of money to try and salvage something that isn't going to work?

Can't resist an opportunity to point out that I was right for once.

All it took was watching that 2nd half of Palko to make this a no-brainer.

Man, you're really on a mission aren't you? We get that you think Leinart is awful, but by most accounts, he's been doing fine in practice, he's spent two years in the system, AND he's been putting in the work and effort that it takes to be successful. Before you go on a smear campaign, aren't you even willing to GIVE him a chance to prove you wrong? It's almost like you WANT him to fail.

You mean the Arizona franchise that Warner took to the Super Bowl? I'll be happy to admit that I'm wrong because it would be good for the Texans, but I would rather have Orton.
