Was the latest episode the first and only to not have a flashback intro? Or did I just forget what it was? I shoot first, ask questions later, so now that I'm about to hit "submit reply" I'll go look in this thread for my answer.
The best estimate suggests there were over 14 billion (with a b) rounds of ammo fired by US gun owners in 2010. I think there would be plenty of ammo available.
Zombies weren't moving as much as the log. The log was swinging left to right while the zombies were only moving towards her. Aside from the pressure, it's a much easier shot and she proved herself capable shooter during target practice, she just can't hit a target moving side to side.
So how much ammo do you think would be used in all the waves of fighting that inevitably happened when the outbreak began? Back in the first season there was a whole episode devoted to that bag of guns and ammunition. If it was readily available why would anyone have made a fuss? There may still be plenty around but 1) it's probably scattered and not in obvious places like police stations and military bases that have been overrun and 2) with the world decimated (and factories shut down) I think it's safe to assume that it's become (even more) a finite resource and rapidly dwindling one at that. Really I just have yet to see them search for actual ammunition..and with hundreds of millions of zombies still out there presumably, I would imagine you'd be a little more conservative.
I dunno if I buy that's a much easier target, considering the surface is area of a headshot is a lot smaller than a 3-4ft log. Log may be moving faster, but it's movement was predictable.
How is a zombie's movement not predictable? They pretty much move in a straight line toward their prey.
Sure they may come at you in a straight line but their gait could be a bit unpredictable, especially if they have injuries to their lower body. And who's to say they don't break out into a run when they see your fresh blood. Just dont think a headshot is quite that easy, especially for someone who's had a couple of hours of training.
I don't understand the whole thing about people using logic when talking about a world of zombies. Zombies, they don't exist! They aren't even shooting machine guns. Just hand guns and rifles.
Yeah the Army would be able to eradicate Zombies with their fancy weapons if this really happened. I imagine they could even wear some kind of protective suits that zombies couldn't bite through. Like when police train dogs to attack.

I loved the episode! I was still pretty shocked when seeing Sophia even though I still saw that massive spoiler. I just don't think I could wait until February for the next episode. Thank god the NBA is back.
That was Darabont all the way and if it was, Shame on AMC for letting him go... What an amazing midseason ending....

Shane is turning into a very decent villain. Not that there isn't truth behind what he says, but the guy is seriously starting to lose it. After a painfully slow start the season has picked up rather nicely...sucks we have to wait till February for new episodes.
WOW. That was one hell of an emotional ending. After that MASSIVE spoiler, I knew exactly what was going to happen. But the way they did it was awesome. The last 5 min I was 0_0
I loved how Shane said "ENOUGH of this boring episode! Let's get some zombie kills up in this joint!" Everyone else is bogged down by drama, but Shane moves the plot and brings the action. He's a keeper. And that scene where he's exploding at Rick and Herschel really pointed out just how ridiculous it was for them to bring the two zombies to the barn. Rick talks out of his ass. Everything Shane has said is true.
