Sad truth is, they're committed to the Kareem Jackson experience, just like how they gave Jacoby a new contract because they felt they invested so many years developing him. How many DTs did they draft after taking the perpetually floundering Okoye in the first round? They like Quin a lot, they just spend a bundle on Joseph and Manning, they're highly unlikely to target anyone on defense in the first round. Johnson's absence made it clear that a second playmaking WR needs to be a priority.
Decent....but not 3 yr, $10M good. His 80 yd TD aside, he was woeful in AJ's absence. We badly need a speedy playmaking wide out. AJ isn't a fly route guy himself and isn't getting any tounger.
3yr, 10 mil...sounds like an average wage by NFL standards for a third WR. He's a top 60 WR. In AJ's absence, he has been good half the week's and bad half the weeks.
true, but the texans need more than that from him. As for drafting the secondary, I don't see the texans targeting those positions in the first couple of rounds. Quin has been very good and then they have Nolan as a backup and Jackson isn't going anywhere. I'd like for them to target a WR in the 1st or 2nd round, depending on who's on the board.
I would not mind them looking at an elite Tight end if one is available too.... Daniels could use some help. DD
It would be tempting to pair him with Andre, but I would stick with Mario. You need a QB with a cannon for an arm for Jackson.

Not time, if there are no receivers worth a high pick and there is a stud tight end, then take that guy. We need help in the receiving core, whether it be at WR or TE......just get Schaub some more folks that can get into space and make a catch. DD
Eh, even as a biased Texan fan I can understand that. Even if Schaub wasn't hurt, Texans vs. Falcons isn't even a conference game, whereas Lions vs. Saints is a possible playoff preview. Not to mention that the over/under on that game will probably be 100.
I'm thinking all Schaub needs is a better trainer. If AJ, Casey, Daniels, Dressen, Foster, and Schaub are healthy, the Texans have plenty of threats in the passing offense. I am really happy with the team as a whole. I'd still like a better CB than Jackson, a better big WR than Walter, and a better NT than Cody, but overall I like this team and hope the Texans just get the best players in the draft available. Offensive line seems a little thin, too, but love the starters.
Doubt it... if anything, Matt Leinart has more of a following than Schaub based on his USC days, and him doing well (or being on a good team) could actually lead to more national exposure for this team/him. But, even being a Texans fan, Lions-Saints is the more attractive game. If Atlanta had beaten NO, and was winning the division, then maybe... but we all know what happened there.
Who cares about national TV, when the team gets to the playoffs, they will get all the national TV time they need. DD
Actually, prime-time regular season games (especially if they are big matchups) tend to draw better than afternoon divisional playoff games. More people watch regular season games nowadays for fantasy purposes alone... once the playoffs come around, and there are only a handful of teams that can compete without any fantasy implications... interest tends to wane. That being said, I don't really care... and the Texans play in and of itself has forced the national media to take notice, even if they haven't had a game on the big stage this year yet.
It probably made it that much easier...but Saints are a network favorite. Falcons and Texans have a miniscule audience outside of their own regions. I never thought we were going to be in the running.
Maybe Nolan will have developed enough to earn a starter's spot and Glover Quin can move back to CB2?

As much as we'd love to do that, as much as I'd LOVE to move Quin to CB2 and run with Nolan/Manning at safety....the regime simply is not looking to pull the plug on Jackson or Quin at S. And being fair to them....Jackson has benefited tremendously by the beastly pass rush and bolstered secondary around him - he isn't the automatic 30 yard whipping boy he was a season ago. Quin's made an impressive transition to S, and with no urgent need to move him back, it makes sense to keep him there. Nolan will still see plenty of reps, just like McCain gets worked in so often.
