Yes, please do, even though the odds are 99.99% that Schaub is done for the reason, my little candle of hope still flickers desperately for a miracle.

I didn't want to start a new thread about this cause it's absolutely no substance to it, but with the colts likely gonna select Andrew luck with the first pick. what do u think it would take for the texans to pry away Peyton manning? Mario Williams and a 2nd and 3rd round pick? Think how good this team could be with him a qb we would contend in the afc for the next 5 yrs. I think Peyton would love a chance to play here and the colts might be more open to trading him to us even though we're in there division. I think they want to make manning happy and understand with luck there still a few years away from playoffs anyway. What do you guys think? Here Edwards did say that manning prob wants to get out of Indy and get on a contender for the last few years he has left

If they are rebuilding, would they want Mario?

I don't think you trade away Mario after he's come along really strong and the passion he has for this team... I'd do Tate and maybe a second or third rounder.

Before we go down that path it's important to note that Peyton may be done for good as his coming back depends on nerve regeneration in his neck. So far, that hasn't happened. If it doesn't happen, he's finished as a player. If they have the No. 1 pick, the Colts will definitely take Luck and let Peyton walk rather than pay him $28M. If you make that deal, the Peyton you wind up with may not be the Peyton you want which is the pre-injury Peyton.

The Colts would never trade Peyton in the division, end of story.

Look, the way the Texans have been playing lately, this team is already good enough to beat ANY team they play. I am looking at YOU Green Bay. ANY team. Am I saying they WOULD beat every team they play? No, of course not. All I am saying is, this team is already good enough to win the whole thing.

But the QB position on this team is not as essential to the overall team's success as it is on teams like New England, Pittsburgh, New Orleans an Green Bay (and of course Indy) You take away their starting QB and those teams are done. They rely on their QB's much more than the Texans lean on Schaub.

That is not to imply that Schaub is not good, or not playing well. He has played very well. It's just that this team has been brought together without too much over-reliance on any individual players, including QB. Andre gone? Check. DManning gone? Check. Mario gone? Check. Foster gone? Check. None of that really mattered, because there is enough depth to overcome those issues, and the new Matt SHOULD be able to manage fairly close to as well as Schaub did, because there is simply not a huge amount asked of the QB on this team other than to just not kill the team with mistakes and make the right decisions most of the time.

The point is, how would adding an immobile Manning greatly improve a team that was already better than Indy anyway? He wouldn't.

So, no dice on your idea. Now you wanna talk about grabbing some stud Defensive tackles and another Corner or two, then I might be down.

He would improve out team. thats why I don't see how us being better than Indy is even relevant when we're talking about adding one of the best qbs in nfl history.

The price and risk involved are too high. Not only would you have to give up valuable pieces in the trade to get him, you also are hampered with his astronomical salary. And that is before you weigh the risk of re-injury in to the decision. Its pretty clear that this team is not built in a way that allows to pay a QB that kind of money. It's exactly why we have been able to continue winning as our stars go down each week.

    2011 Salary
    Manning - about 23 million
    Schaub - about 7 million

    Makes no sense.

I can't tell you how much the idea of the Colts getting Luck disgusts me. Those tanking bastards.

Always a great move to insert a HOF QB into the starting lineup when he's past his prime. What could possibly go wrong?

    Sincerely,

The 2010 Washington Redskins and 2011 Minnesota Vikings

I think Peyton Manning could still out perform Donovan McNabb while playing in a full-on neck brace.

Something interesting from Paul Kuharsky from ESPN...

"According to Total QBR, Schaub has been an elite-level quarterback since the 2008 season. His 66.2 QBR in that time period trails only Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Rodgers and Drew Brees"

Lets hope Leinart comes through! :)

    1. Peyton Manning may never play another down of football.

    2. They would never trade him within the division.

    3. Why would they want to pay Mario AND Freeny?

    4. The Texans run a completely different offense than the Colts.

    5. I can't believe I'm actually replying to this! (Bye Week Blues?)

I would not give them Mario OR a 2nd rounder OR a 3rd rounder

If Manning has a future left, I'm pretty sure it's as a coach.

He had two neck procedures because a bulging disc was pinching the nerves that power his shoulder.

After the procedures to relieve the pinching, he never recovered....which means one of two things:
The prior procedures didn't relieve the pinching (doubtful)
The pinching had already begun to kill nerves (probable)

His third procedure was the most extreme option to ensure the disc does not pinch the nerves.....but if a portion of those nerves are already dead, it's pointless.

I'd lay 3 to 1 odds that Manning's career is done.

A little headline just showed up saying Casserly says that Schaub could be back for playoffs. Don't know how much legitimacy there is to it.

He's visiting a specialist in NC. If his foot doesn't require surgery, rest and rehab could possibly have him back for the playoffs.

By then Matt L will have led the team to a 6-0 finish.
