I'm getting tired of gmail. I hate the new layout and I hate not be able to sort mail. So are the other mail providers better? Which do you prefer?

I'm still on gmail because I was in the beta and got first choice in what my email address is going to be. I'm still on the old look (with an option to switch), what is bad with it?

The inability to sort mails is mind bottling, to say the least. I don't know why google haven't addressed that while they keep changing the layout every other 6 months. It gets worse by each "upgrade."

I wish I can use my old hotmail account, as it looks a lot simpler, but people from work, family, and friends all know my gmail account. :(

What do you mean you can't sort? How are you trying to sort, I've seen some options in the settings before but can't exactly remember.

You could just set up gmail in an email client that supports imap like Thunderbird or Outlook

I'm trying to sort by sender, date, subject, size. Typical stuff.

I don't want to use Thunderbird or Outlook. It kinda defeats the purpose of webmail.

Gmail takes an unorthodoxed approach to email, meant to be used like a search engine instead of a folder/directory approach.

To display email from a sender, type "from:" in the search followed by the string you're looking for. If I wanted to see all the email I got from Newegg, I'd type "from:newegg" or "from:newegg.com" and hit search.

Comprehensive list of search operators are at http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=7190

I know how gmail works. I've been on it since the beginning. Sometimes I need to scan my email because I don't what I'm searching for. Other mail systems have search and sort.

Indeed, it truly is mind bottling.

Free Yahoo still doesn't support e-mail clients, right?

I've been using hotmail for over a decade. I have no issues with it and don't see me switching.... ever.

I think its the route I'm going. Skydrive is pretty cool, especially with unlimited space for pictures and documents.

I've went from hotmail to yahoo to gmail. I use all three, one for filling out forms where I know I`m going to get junk mail, a second for employment purposes, and a third for friends and family.
