Might as well starting thinking about this deep draft sense there isn't anything else to talk about. The Rockets are projected to pick anywhere from 5-15 in my opinion.

With Drummond, Barnes, Davis, Jones and Sullinger most likely going in the top 5. Who could you see the roxs taking?

I see Houston fighting very hard to get there hands on the undersized 6'8 Sulliger at power forward. If that doesn't work I see us taking Thomas Robinson another undersized power forward. Unfourtnalty.

But in the best case scenario the Rockets can get a potential prolific scorer in the mold of Brad Beal, Jermey Lamb or Austin Rivers.

    What do you guys think?

Way too early for these sorts of things, but it's just for fun anyway.

Will we still need a center by the time we draft again? Will our NY and/or own pick (if we don't make the playoffs and lose the pick to Jersey) land us a big?

Morey always goes for best talent available anyway.

If he could trade up high enough, which he can't, I'm sure he'd look at Barnes, unless Marcus Morris plays above his #14-in-a-weak-draft station (he could have been taken higher, so it's possible).

If Morey adds yet another 4, I would hope he cleared up the current logjam at the spot. We have enough 4's on the roster for two teams.

Whoever has the highest cieling, I am intrigued by the freshman in Waco (whose name I cant remember) and Beal from Florida. I am a big proponent of swinging some deals to stock up on as many picks as we can get next summer. My hope is our bevy of reasonable deals might be used to swing a trade where we maybe dont get equal talent up front but an extra pick or 2 in the middle of/end of round one to package with either of our other picks. Draft has me salivating at this point...

I think your taking about SF Quincy Miller.

I agree on stocking up draft picks particularly in next years draft that is deep in talent. A team with multiple 1st rounders will be able to maneuver around in the draft, possibly even trade up.

Best available talent at the 5 and the 3, with the 5 having priority, of course.

Quincy Miller is exactly who I was thinking of.

Harrison Barnes should be #1 on the wish list... The guy can get into the paint and to the free throw line whenever he wants. His athleticism and ability to finish is outstanding. He has the capacity to be a great wing defender, and has a nice stroke from the outside. Jeremy Lamb and Perry Jones also have star quality, but Barnes IMO is a can't miss franchise type player.

BPA. Even if he's a guard. The Rockets aren't in a position to choose which position they take. If there's a next Ray Allen or DWill out there, I don't care that we have Lowry and Martin. I still want that guy.

Just remember guys that according to Morey, the Rockets don't draft based on potential.

I'm still torn between Anthony Davis or Andre Drummond.

EVEN if he's a guard??? Heck, unless the Rockets somehow win the lottery or are otherwise positioned to get a very elite prospect, I'm guessing the Rockets will be targeting a guard in next years draft!

Fact: The Rockets are young and deep at the forward spots with Scola, Patterson, Budinger and Morris all under contract beyond next season, let alone Hill and Williams (expiring) and Motiejunas (draft rights held).

Fact: Dragic, Lee and Flynn are all free agents after next season.

Fact: Kevin Martin only has two years left on his deal.

Obviously, if there is a premier center prospect available, or if a SF like Barnes or Miller is on the board, the Rockets would go with the best available player.

Morey has proven, time and again, that he goes BPA. If its between a guard and a forward, both rated equal, I think Morey goes guard.

That said, who knows what trades or signings the Rockets will make before then.

Say what you will about Bryce Drew as an NBA player, but that is, IMHO, the single greatest DESIGNED play I have ever seen in a basketball game. I remember watching that live when it happened. I couldn't close my jaw for five minutes after that shot.
