If we only didn't have socialist Obama and socialist stuff like food stamp, unemployment and taxes we would be the land of opportunities for basketball players.

Just fine. The role of the American perimeter player in China is to hog the ball and do the heavy lifting. That's what they get paid for.

Wow - no outs for players in the CBA, he will be there all year. Of course he will be getting paid etc.

I mean if the lockout ends, he is still under contract in the CBA, right? Does Phoenix still have options to excercise?

And if they do, would they excercise it knowing he could not come over until late March?

    DaDakota,

The CBA did not say "no outs" for NBA players. They are actually not allowed to claim that. FIBA controls where players play, not the league.

What you are confusing is the CBA said they would not accept any players who are under contract in the NBA. Aaron Brooks is a free agent. He has no contract. So he can negotiate anything he wants with China, and he probably has an out clause, I would bet.

He doesn't have to worry about that. I doubt any team would pick him up.

He has a poor attitude with an extremely limited skill set and really doesn't know how to play team ball or play defense at a high caliber.

If he did come back, some team would probably give him the min. He's too much of a cancer in the locker room, he pouts and has bad body language.

Technically CBA imports need to stay for the entire season. But in China the saying goes, there are rules and then there are ways to go around them...

None of the players in China are under a current NBA contract. They are all free agents. Thus, they don't HAVE A TEAM TO WHICH to return. THERE IS NO OPTION. HE IS A RESTRICTED FA ALL PHX HAS IS MATCHING RIGHTS.

    GET IT?

Thanks CH, I knew Phoenix had some rights to him, just forgot it was the restricted variety.

I wonder if those expire when this season is over, or does it carry forward like Josh Childress's did?

I believe the restriction rights carry forward since they are based on years of service, not contracts and contract options which are for a specific set of years.

It will be interesting to see if that happens whenever a new CBA is in force.

If the season is cancelled guys like AB and DWill and others that are still getting paid will have made a good choice, while others that road it out, and didn't make any $$$ will have lost a year of their careers for nothing.

Wow, he can score lots of points in China. Too bad he is making much less money due to the lost of starting job in Houston.
